Jayme Once upon a time I ripped the wings from my spine.
This past semester I began the preliminary research steps for my Honors Thesis. Following a paper I wrote for one of my classes last semester (fall) on secularism, I was encouraged to continue my research for an Honors Thesis (in History). Using that paper as a point of departure, I have since engaged in preliminary research, formulating a prospective syllabus for a fall Independent Studies course (a precursor to the spring Honors course).
NOTE I am remaining intentionally vague about the particulars of this thesis.

Not finished the rewrite yet, but I have received the official go-ahead from the head of my department. Yay!

At last I’ve taken out my papers and my binder of research stuff and am actively working on this again. It feels good and I’m regaining some of that initial excitement I had when I first started working on it. Hurray for progress!

Before I started I didn’t want to do it. All the time during it I didn’t want to do it. Now that I’m done I realize it was really tough (why I didn’t want to do it), but it was very important not only because of the knowledge I obtained, but also the skills. If nothing else, I’m sure those skills will be important when I go start my career.

Jen is packing her world away... my, does it compress down easily!
My thesis was a study into the ancient Greek music theory around 5 B.C., with a derivative performance piece involving storytelling, dance, and music. It’s called “ANNAGENISI: Recreating a Forgotten Sound.”
I’m glad it’s done!

I wrote a novella for my honors thesis (since I’m a creative writing major). I’m so glad it’s finished.
