join the National Guard

I was in ROTC my high school year and I loved it..I originally planned on joining the Army, but my grandma was dead set against it, and since I was living with her, I respected her wishes. I would rather join the National Guard now.

life is hard but by join the guard is easy.

It has been the most rewarding thing I have ever done. It was a long and tough process but once I got in I felt such a sense of pride and honor for my country like I have never felt before. Before I enlisted my life was goin on the road to nowhere. I had dropped out of college, broken up with my boyfriend, lost my job and even ended up in jail. I had completely hit rock bottom. I had never felt so low in my life. That is when I made the decision to enlist, why not dig myelf up from the bottom serving the country that I love? Now I am proud to say that I am a member of the United States Army California National Guard.

i think joining the national guard will change my life and make me become a better person.

i realized that i would not be joining the guard for the right reasons [sign on bonus, and shock factor]. you should sign up because of your own genuine respect and feeling of duty to the country, and for a camaraderie amongst the Guard. i respect the people who join for these reasons, but they’re not mine.

Our military is a mess. Before you join any branch of the military, read up on the FERES doctrine and learn about soldiers who’s lives have been destroyed by the military:

I’m so glad I did not enlist. My husband joined the Michigan Army National Guard two years ago and was very badly injured during training in New Mexico in March of ‘07. It has been almost a year and the Army has still not authorized the medical care he needs. My husband cannot walk without a cane now, and is in constant pain.

I want to enlist to serve my country. Right now, this seems like it could potentially be a good way to do that. Unless I find an alternate peaceful means of contributing.
