I’m thinking this may be where I move my webpage, so it doesn’t look so home-made in a bad way.

How I did it: I sought out wordpress, then gradually transfered a few of my older pages, adapting them from geocities to wordpress, then just managed to have them done. I'm still working on it though, since geocities will expire next month.
Lessons & tips: Be patient, pick the simplest theme for your blog if you don't know HTML or even CSS.
You can send your entries from your cellphone too!
Have a thread of what you'd like your blog to be about, otherwise there'll be no real reason for perfect strangers to read it in the first place.
