IM going and thats it. My friend and camera man Russel are leaving from New York next june and hitting the sea, and oceans for 1 year. We plan to sail past Ellis Island and see what lies beyond, it was the last port of call for so many people that were in search of the american dream and it will be our first .. Our boat is a 38 foot cruiseing sailer that sleeps 6. We are looking for a few people to come along . We plan to make a documentary on the way so we are looking for the right people to do this with us, If you are interested you can send me an email here.
I dream of this everyday. Leaving my life behind and just getting out there and seeing what there is to do and see. Bought myself a small boat last year, and am slowly restoring the thing, the outside is starting to look pretty good, my goal is to have her in the water next spring. Then I can learn to sail, and my goal is to leave for destinations unknown in 7-10 years…gotta wait for the children to grow up…

doing a lot of reading, but no work on the boat and no sailing. i kick myself over this, but then sometimes i realize this is all part of the processs of extricating myself from my now.
me ? i still don’t know what i want to be when i grow up. uh – my age isn’t in the profile, is it ? hope not ! ;-)
sure, there’s lots of these out on the web, something appealing about this one, though.
cross posted on live simply.
um, to differentiate from those wanting to “sail the world” on a cruise ship, or wanting to get rich and buy a private yacht:
i’m talking about doing it yourself in a small boat. those other “goals” are just “make money and spend it on something”.
and then there was the person who entered the goal as “sail around the world”, then commented what she really meant was an extended vacation in the bahamas.
i’m talking lifestyle here, not hobby or trip. i’m talking about going out and embracing the natural world, not running from its tempers.
you enjoy your goal, and i’ll enjoy mine, but please – they are not the same.
