According to 43 things I marked this “not worth it”? Sem essa Ze! Best decision I ever made.
People doing this are also doing these things:

Safely and happily on the ground in Brazil.
Bought fresh produce.
Ate traditional southern cachorro folhado (essentially a hot dog in a croissant).
Portuguese rusty due to recent slacking in allowance of move preparations.
Clearly beginning major “life as you know it” transition.
But I can feel it. It’s getting very near. I was talking to someone today that said, “I can see how you fit there, why you will succeed. The exact things that would scare me about the cultural shift, you not only expect, but welcome. You are adapting your thinking now – before you’ve even arrived.”
Or something like that. And he was right.
If there is truth in the theory of past lives, then most definitely I’ve had at least one in this place. The pull is so strong. It feels exciting, thankfully, but even more, it feels…
inevitable.
So I moved to Madrid. Now I have spent 3 weeks in Italy, and I am about to fly back to the US only because i’ve joined the PC and i’m headed to Moldova for 2 years. LIving abroad has been the best experience ever, and i think that by now for me it’s a lifestyle I want to pursue. Once you get out of your comfort zone, and make a new one somewhere else, you realize that the whole world is open to you. Your comfort zone is wherever you want it to be!!
Hey everybody! Just letting you know that next week I am finally expatriating!! I’m moving to Madrid, another goal of mine. Yeih! It’s totally possible! And I’m sure it’ll be worth it!
A lot of people I mention this goal to seem to think it’s some kind of personal insult, like because I want to live somewhere else I must not want to live here, and that must mean that I don’t like the people here, and that must mean I don’t like THEM. But wanting to move away isn’t just a negative reaction to the way things are here. I just like it so much other places.
