This goal used to be “be more active,” and I think I’ve accomplished that… I ride my bike to work every day, and do housework and yard work, and walk, all of which constitute being more active. Now I’m modifying my goal to starting a weight training regimine. I’m not fond of cardio, really, but I’m going to try to get some serious cardio in at least once a week.

Two to three times a week. And I’ll continue to do it. The most interesting thing about weight training to me is how it tones up neurotransmitters to improve and/or preserve balance. Don’t want to be too unbalanced.

I’m giving up on the weight training class through the U but not giving up on weight training. The class sucks. I’ve made the best of it, but the best still sucks. I started adding turbo jam weight training videos to the TJ kickboxing videos that I do all the time. My muscles get a 200% better workout with TJ videos than in the class, so this is the way I’m going to go.

Turns out a friend who I work with has weight lifting experience, and she is interested in using the weights at the gym. She & I will go to the class together after work tonight. We can team up, & she can show me things like proper form. Then the fact that the teacher pays no attention to me will be an asset, rather than a liability!

Yesterday’s class was just frustrating. The instructor showed everyone how to do a whole bunch of exercises, then he said, “go do it,” and left us on our own. This technique does not work for me! I was planning on not going back and on finding another way to learn weight training, but a co-worker who has weight training experience wants to go with me tomorrow and we can work together, so I will give that a try.

Took my first weight training class last night. I was the second worst person there, but I don’t care. I’m going to keep going back and working at it.

Okay. I’m enrolled in a twice a week weight training class after work. It starts on Tuesday!

The other day I raked the yard, went on a bike ride, and played with my hula hoop (another goal). I felt soooo good at the end of the day. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but that’s such a switch from just sitting around being a couch potato. I’ve never been able to just work out for the sake of exercise… but I love doing things that get my body moving and my blood pumping.

I’ve start doing a boot camp with 6 other gals and a trainer. That helps me to do some weight work on that day and also on the off days stimulates me to do some weights.
