...Is another movie that I totally forgot I watched a while ago. My Bio teacher showed it to us after we finished the AP, and I thought it was OK. We saw the more serious companion to the movie, Fail-Safe in history class last year, and…well, let’s just say it scarred me for life. And gave me an obsession with everything related to nuclear war. So of course I recognized the title immediately, but I still tried to look forward to it, as I’m willing to laugh at anything that satirizes one of my worst fears.
Regardless, it wasn’t that funny either. Satire often goes over my head (I have problems with tone recognition), so I didn’t get most of the jokes. Still, there were some amusing parts, such as the scene with excessive apologizing. (“No, I know you’re sorry, but I am, too…I don’t think you’re more sorry than I am.” or something like that.) Overall, watching it really wasn’t all that bad.

This movie is about a guy who suffers from PTSD after surviving a plane crash, and suffers from a feeling of invincibility afterwards, as well as a need to protect and ‘save’ this other emotionally scarred survivor. I saw this movie in my Human Nature class at school a while ago, and I wasn’t really crazy about it. It was just a very stressful, anxiety-inducing movie for me, for pretty obvious reasons. I forced myself to watch as much of it as I could, but there were some parts, like when the movie flashes back to the flight and everything seems normal until there’s this huge lurch, that I just had to look away during.
Also, we watched the movie over three class periods, and after the second one I decided to look up the summary so I wouldn’t have any more surprises. And…let’s just say if I hadn’t read what happens in the last scene beforehand, and I hadn’t calmly walked out of the room when I saw that it was going to happen, I probably would have started hyperventilating in front of my whole class. So that wasn’t fun, and obviously I feel guilty about it as well since everyone else was fine. But whatever.
Don’t get me wrong, there were some really sweet moments in the movie, and even though the last scene is scary, the movie still has a happy ending. Regardless, the stress I endured from watching it really outweighed that too much for me to like it.

I surprised myself last night by watching this movie out of the blue, and in one sitting, no less. I didn’t really react to it emotionally because I usually have a delayed reaction to these kinds of things…but on a mental level, I thought that it was a really great movie about human nature at its worst and best, mostly at its best.
I’ve been struggling a lot recently with being depressed about the meaningless murders that took place during history (primarily after reading Slaughterhouse-Five in English class). The good thing about this movie, though, was that it reminded me that although the living victims did have it even worse, they could still be okay at times. They could still forget, laugh, have fun, and above all, love one another, even when they were practically dying. So yeah, it was a very good movie. :)

...Is Disney Channel’s most recent original TV movie. And I loved it so, so much. I have loved Disney Channel through all its eras, but I will admit that it’s gotten less idealistic and more just entertaining. But…Radio Rebel was totally getting back to the good old days of High School Musical. The “Be Yourself” mantra is back, and everyone is in on it. Most people reject the status quo, and then you have the typical insecure drama queen (which I didn’t expect), and the heroine decides to be nice to her even though EVERYBODY is on her side. Finally, the main love interest was such an awesome nice guy and always stuck up for the main girl when she got bullied. But yeah, overall, Radio Rebel was really idealistic. It wasn’t realistic, but hey, the truth is, it depicts a world that’s really pretty cool. If that makes me happy, I’ve decided I’m okay with that. =)

This movie just came out on Friday, and it’s supposed to be based off of The Borrowers series. I never read those books when I was little, but overall I thought it was a sweet story, and I particularly liked the relationship dynamic of the main family. There was one certain aspect of it that I thought was predictable, and also the ending was a little abrupt. Overall, though, it was a very beautiful movie, and the score is really good too! I am so obsessed with the end theme right now.
