today was the day that i’ve been looking forward to for the past couple of months. i’ve gone through a rollercoaster of emotions and it’s all finalized now. one school down and one or possibly two more to go. hopefully this thanksgiving will be a grateful one. 15 months ago
Yesterday I delivered my transcripts in person and received my student ID number so I can put it on my application to the program. I just picked up my last letter of recommendation tonight and all I need to work on now is my resume to send along with my application. The plan is to send it in on the 9th and it just so happens to be a shortened day at work!
It already feels pretty nice to get the bulk of the progress completed. Can’t wait! 15 months ago
I’m going to turn in my application packet on 9/9/13. I’ll be picking up the rest of the letters by the end of this week. I’ve somewhat rewritten my statement (for the 100th time, literally) and I’m going to send the draft over to a friend… after she edits it, I’ll send that off by the end of this week.
SO CLOSE. 15 months ago
two of the three people who are writing my letter of recommendation notified me that the letters are ready for pick up. i’m very happy that they’re on board and got them done in time.
i’m currently still rewriting/heavily editing my statement. i’ve looked for tips online on how to write a decent statement and there are some good tips that i took from it. there are definitely moments of frustration from writer’s block and what i’ve been doing is just taking a nap. after a nap i feel refreshed and it feels a little easier to write.
my statement NEEDS to be completed by this weekend. thank goodness for a 4 day weekend!!! 15 months ago
the deadline is approaching and everything is beginning to fall into place. i’ve spent an entire month working on a 500 word statement stating why i want to pursue a master’s in occupational therapy and now i want to scrap half of it and rewrite it. writing has been my weakness and i never gathered the strength to face and conquer it. i’m grateful though to have a few people look over my writing and critique it. i can’t wait for this to be over. by september 15th, i’ll have submitted one out of three applications. 16 months ago

1. I need to order my transcripts from 3 different schools. I forgot my ID number for one of my schools, so I’ll have to call in tomorrow to find out – called the school, DONE.
2. I will call my local hospital and inquire about their volunteer opportunities – need to call again tomorrow.

Today I attended an information session at one of my prospective schools. It was quite refreshing to imagine myself doing something different and very rewarding within the next year.
Now it’s time to break down the application process into smaller, obtainable, and less-stressful goals. I’m making myself turn in my applications at least one month before the due date, that way I won’t be run into any last minute glitches.
The due date is August 15th. 18 months ago
that I got into my last pre requisite class before I can apply for my Masters!!! I anticipated the worst case scenario of waiting for another year or two to get into this class since the schedules online said the classes were full and based on my horrendous experience trying to get into my first community class i thought i didn’t have a chance.
The only thing I have to sacrifice is my one hour of work on Wednesdays. I lose a bit of money each month, but I have a tutoring job (if I go through with it) to make up for it.
Anyway, this is one step closer and I can confidently say that this is the year for me to turn in my application :) 22 months ago
is THE year! I have two schools in mind with one deadline in September and the other in November which gives me ample time to finish the remaining prerequisite class i need, write my personal statement, and to get the transcripts together.
I can do this! 23 months ago
i just read an article from Forbes that occupational therapists are in high demand. the job popularity/demand has jumped up 11 rankings since 2011 due to the baby boomers.
i have 1 more class in february to complete and to also figure out who will write my letters of recommendation… after that… everything will be a piece of cake. 23 months ago
