goddessglendonia why torture yourself when lfe will do it for you!

failed first attempt.  — 4 weeks ago

l.o.l. I sent off for that larve and forgot to send the check with it. Of course I did!!

So as a welcome home gift I am going to go buy one this weekend and decide on how long it takes to get the larve and mail it off (with a check this time) to have it arrive in time, or close to the time they will arrive home so that we can get started on this project!!

I spotted a butterfly in my butterfly garden today. I guess that means that I finally acheived my goal!

Still Haven't Seen Any  — 10 months ago

    Worth doing!

I still haven’t seen any butterflies, which is depressing. I planted many flowers that butterflies enjoy. This pot is flowering again.

No Butterflies Yet  — 11 months ago

    Worth doing!

I planted flowers that butterflies like and all of them except the sunflowers have flowered. I have yet to see one butterfly. I am still hopeful that I will see buterflies before the summer is over, but I may have to try again and plant earlier next year.

We did it  — 1 year ago

The kids and I bought a butterfly growing kit. We will send off for the larve(sp). I have been wanting to do this for so long with them.
We can’t really get started for 2 weeks as they will be with their father, but we are looking forward to the fun when they get back home!!! G.

    Planted  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

I planted the sunflowers and other flowers that attract butterflies. The other flowers are all growing….now I need to focus on the ‘nurture’ part.

    Sunflowers  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

Last night I did a ton of research and was very excited to learn that sunflowers attract butterflies! So I started making a list of the other plants/flowers that are appropriate for a butterfly garden. Next week we’re going to buy seeds and by April, I will start planting. We have the perfect spot for a butterfly garden at the back of our property. I haven’t had a flower garden for at least eight years so, I AM EXCITED!

no butterflies  — 2 years ago

first of all i aint got no money. plus, i aint got no sun. i did get a few zinnias (i’m not sure butterflies even like those) and a begonia and lavendar and basil. and even those aren’t doing so well because there is only shade around my house most of the time. But, there is a buterfly house down a trail not to far from where i live so I can go there until I can have my own butterfly garden.

Billions of Butterflies Descend on California  — 2 years ago

    Worth doing!

If not Billions at least Millions of butterflies according to those in the know.

“This may be the biggest migration of modern times,” said Arthur Shapiro, a professor and expert on butterflies at the University of California, Davis.”

“There are now reports of billions of painted lady butterflies around Trona, near Death Valley, and in the San Fernando Valley, Shapiro said. More waves of butterflies are likely to appear in central California over the next few weeks.”

Hope they will be okay and some find their way South. I’d give them a very nice home :)

    Worth doing!

is having a workshop in April called Attracting Butterflies and Hummingbirds to your Garden.

Butterflies and hummingbirds add grace, beauty and motion to the landscape. Learn which plants will attract these creatures to your yard. Discover the 50 common butterflies of Tarrant County and which hummingbirds visit Fort Worth and when.

This is such a delight for me to find!
