Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

TeenyBeanNovember Projects

1 – Paint the living room, hang curtains, hang artwork

2 – Finish my side table refinish project

3 – Get a lampshade for my refinished lamp

4 – Get started on my chair refinishing project

This is a tall order, I know, but I think I can do it! 2 years ago

TeenyBeanYear to date status

So far I have completed eight projects over the course of the full nine months we’ve had so far. That doesn’t put me too far off from one a month although they technically haven’t happened on time and sometimes more than one were finished in a month or none at all. I’m not going to hold that against myself though, there were a lot of big changes this year like moving and quitting my job that have diverted my attention. I’ll be happy if at the end of the year I have completed twelve in total.

I never formally set an October goal but I have been getting stuff done. I have an end table that I’m working on refinishing right now and so completing that in the next week and half will be my October project. I also ordered fabric for a chair I’m refinishing and that will be my November project since I won’t even have the fabric before the end of the month.

Not too bad all in all! 2 years ago

TeenyBeanSeptember Re-cap

My projects were:
1 – Finish unpacking my bedroom (which is contingent upon my landlord making repairs to my closet in a timely fashion)

2 – Hang all photos and artwork

3 – Organize my pantry & move storage items to the basement

4 – Paint my bedroom

What got completed:
1 – Bedroom is unpacked, yay! Turns out I need more clothing storage so I’m trying to figure out what the best solution is. October project maybe?

2 – I hung all bedroom artwork, but the living room artwork is going to have to wait until after I paint.

3 – The pantry is organized! Storage items are not in the basement yet because there is less space available than I thought so I’m trying to condense and only move what I absolutely need down there. Its a great excuse to go through everything and get rid of a lot of stuff. I’m looking forward to a good purge.

4 – The bedroom is painted! Now onto the living room… 2 years ago

TeenyBeanAugust complete - kind of...

My August project was to completely unpack from my move at the beginning of the month. I’ve unpacked pretty much everything. I am still living out of suitcases though as I wait for my building manager to make repairs to my closet. There is water damage in one corner and the rod needs an extra support before I can hang anything on it. At least I’ve done as much as I can for now.

For September I’d like to complete all my unpacking and make sure everything is organized. Going to think of another project to add for September also…to be continued! 2 years ago

TeenyBeanAugust Project

My August project is to get everything unpacked in my new apartment. Sometimes this task can drag out for a long time so I’m hoping that setting a goal will keep me motivated to unpack instead of living out of boxes. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanWow, so behind!

This goal has fallen by the wayside over the last few months, there has been far too much going on with quitting my job and re-balancing my life. And now I’m moving at the end of July so the next week will be devoted to packing and preparing. I’m hoping I can make some progress on a project or two when I’m settled into my new place in August and catch up so when all is said and done I finished 12 projects by the end of the year. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanMay Project Status

Well, procrastination rears its ugly head…

I waited until this past weekend to work on my refinishing projects and it ended up being too humid outside to spray paint. Hoping this weekend will work out better.

Also, picked out all the photos I want printed for my portfolio but having trouble getting them to print correctly without having to crop them. At least part of this task is done, selection is the hard part anyway!

I’m hoping I can wrap these up over the coming weekend and set new goals for June. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanMay Projects

1- Finish assembling my modeling portfolio…for real this time.

2- Refinish the lamp and photo frames I bought at a resale shop. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanApril Project Status

So I’m a tad bit behind, but I did finish reorganizing my closet. Only time will tell if it was actually helpful.

Tonight I have a friend coming over to help me retrieve files from my old computer, so if all goes well I’ll have that project done today also.

Now to brainstorm on what my May project will be… 2 years ago

TeenyBeanMarch Project Status & New April Project

My March project was to get my modeling portfolio in order…which is somewhat done. Some of my photos are trapped on an old dying laptop which makes my portfolio incomplete at this point because I can only get to some of my shoots. Which brings me to my April project…

For April my goal is to retrieve all my files from my old laptop and old desktop computers, not only so I can complete my portfolio but also so that I have all my old music and other pictures too.

And for a second April project I want to clean out and organize my closet. I stick to wearing only a small portion of my wardrobe because it is easy, but I’d like to get organized so I can see everything I have and make use of the rest of my clothes. This will also be a good opportunity to purge my closet and donate items I no longer need. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanMarch Project

My March project will be getting my modeling portfolio in order so that I can start submitting to agencies in April. That’s really exciting! 2 years ago

TeenyBeanFebruary Project: Check!

I have finished my February desk organization project. I got rid of quite a bit of old junk that I didn’t need and made space for new things in the future. I’m a lot happier working from this space now! 2 years ago

TeenyBeanFebruary Project

My project for this month is to clean and organize my at-home work desk. Right now I have a lot of old files and piles of junk that need to be sorted through. I think I’m at about the halfway point with having my desk the way I would like it. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanJanuary has become February...

Well, I’m sad to say I won’t be completing my January project on time. I have all the fabric cut out for my skirt but as I sat down to start sewing I realized the directions were practically in a foreign language. It has been years since I sewed anything so I’m giving myself an extra month to finish this goal. Hopefully that is enough time to figure out what I’m doing!

I still want to stick to my goal of one project a month though, so I’d like to come up with a true February project by the end of the week. 2 years ago

TeenyBeanJanuary Project

My January project is sewing a skirt that I bought all the materials for two months ago. Last night I started cutting out the pattern. I’m looking forward to having a new skirt by the end of the month! 2 years ago
