Essentially, this is done. The house will ALWAYS be a work in progress to some degree, so I’m not going to be picky here. The dining room is now a dining rm/office and the old office is now functioning as a playroom. Go us!! We love the changes, too. :) Wish we thought of it years ago, in fact! 14 months ago

We ‘finished’ the playroom. I put that in quotes because there are still books to organize, and more toys to move into there and out of the living room (and maybe his room, too). Did some work on this on Sunday. We got quite a bit done in a short time! Won’t be long now and they’ll start actually LOOKING like functional rooms again. :) Everytime we work on this goal I get more inspired. Will definitely put some more time in very soon! 15 months ago

I did some small tidying yesterday in both rooms.

I emptied 3 or 4 (can’t remember how many) of the small drawers in the white buffet so we can move more things from the other room into them. It was mostly recyclables I hope to craft with sometime (or just recycle them!) and a whole bunch of greeting cards from loved ones that I’ve saved. I hope to save a few special ones and use the others for craft projects or donate them to one of those charities that uses them to make new cards for a good cause.

I still have on drawer that is full of small cookbooks, so that’ll be an easy one to empty out. I may just do that today. I also did work in the playroom and got a ton of those pesky plastic bags out of the way and put away the recyclables in there, too. Guess I should add a goal in the near future of doing some upcycling projects! 16 months ago

Husband and I worked on this today. He got rid of a LOT of junk from the closet in there, and I sorted the wrapping paper, gift bags, etc. into Christmas and non-Christmas, and put the non-Christmas wrapping stuff in our organizer bag. That is now in it’s new room: the dining rm/office. The Christmas stuff is organized, but we need to find a good container that holds the LONG wrapping paper rolls.

We’ll work on this more this weekend, I am sure. 16 months ago

As our main Family Fun Night activity last night, we worked on the playroom together, and moved a couple items into other rooms. Here’s the main things we did:

Moved my son’s small rug from his room to the playroom until we get a larger rug for the room. Took everything out of the large bookcase in the playroom and took the small white cabinet out of the bathroom and replaced it with the big, empty bookcase (for towels and toilet paper, etc). Now, the white cabinet is in the dining room/office and we moved the play kitchen against the wall where the bookcase was.

This project is moving along! We’ll keep working at it and see if we can get this DONE by spring. I think that is a good, realistic goal. 17 months ago

My man has been working on this today, so I’m excited to see the rooms beginning to take shape. He’s moving writing utensils, small office supplies, and now organizing our CD collection. Whenever one of us does some work on this project, I think it inspires the other to keep it moving forward. It’s a slow process, but it’ll be worth all the time, effort, and energy! 17 months ago

Today, I moved some of the play food and the play doh stuff into the playroom and moved some of the paperwork and stuff into the dining rm/office. Still plenty to do, but it felt good to see progress on this goal. I’m hoping once the Christmas stuff is finally out of the way that we’ll feel motivated to keep working on this goal. 17 months ago

We want to do the following:

switch what we’ve called ‘the office’ into a guest room/play room

move office stuff neatly into our dining room so it’s a dining room/office

then we’ll have to see what we’re doing with all the toys between the living room, my son’s room what is in the dining room now, and the new play room. Hopefully we can make it all work without looking cluttered or weird.

We’ve started working on this, and will continue to plug away at it until it’s done! Not sure what our next move is exactly… probably getting toys out of dining room and starting to plan how it’ll function as an office/dining room. 17 months ago
