create a secret society

I have started a secret society that is so secret that no-one else knows about it except me. But this advanced level of covertness has proven very unsatisfactory. As a result I have decided to tell people about it, thus making it a non secret society. It is called “The Holy Martyrs of the League of Ireland” and is a society for those who do not have enough pain in their lives and seek to augment their suffering by regularly attending League football matches here in the Emerald Isle. The standard is poor. Very poor. Hence the suffering.
All you have to do to join is google ‘league of ireland’ – pick a team – develop an irrational affection for them – and finally, promise never to discuss it on pain of deeeeeath. Go on, you know you want to! My own choice has been Cork City FC, otherwise known as The Rebels. I’m aiming to double the current membership (1) by the end of the year. It could be you!!

Create a global brotherhood in pursuit of a pointless goal.

Cant go into it in detail yet but i am considering the “Man in a Bath” society which would basically be guerilla photographs of a man in a bath taken in everyday public situations. the thought tickles me.

Everytime I see this goal I feel like there must be a million things that a secret society could do. Considering that it would be secret it wouldnt have to be anything particularly ingenious or original…or even worthwhile. After all, who’s to know (Except its priveliged and sworn to secrecy members). So how come I cant think of anything? I cant find a purpose. Damn it.
How about a secret society where its members do nothing! And actively encourage others to do nothing. And secretly agitate against those who do something.
No, thats crap.
Some kind of pagan ritual thing?
A society that worships onions!
Got one! A secret group who go around car parks putting insulting stickers on people who park their cars over 2 spaces!

Some years ago we declared our house an independant republic with the intention of being able to enter our house in the soccer world cup. We failed to recieve recognition from the UN and it all fell apart, which was a shame. i cant help feeling that they have a dissapointing lack of imagination. Perhaps it is more realistic to initiate a secret society that will occasion random acts of nonsense on an unwitting world.

i was one of the 6 founders of my secret society and it is still going strong….cant tell you anymore about it though.
