I haven’t really celebrated my birthday since I was in grade school. By the time I was in junior high, I actually had to be reminded by one of my teachers towards the end of the day that it was in fact my birthday. By highschool I refused to tell anyone when it was and suffered pretty disgracefully through my family’s attempts to celebrate it. By the time I was living on my own, everyone had pretty much given up trying and it was a huge relief for me.

I don’t know, now. I think I might give it a try this go around, just to see. I’m not expecting family and friends to worry about it after so many years training them not to, but I think I’ll try doing something special for myself and maybe something for everyone else, too for putting up with such a birthday curmudgeon for so long. 16 months ago
