CarolHolly is learning Swedish!
Hopefully this isn’t a decision I’ll regret. I figured I could learn Swedish faster than Japanese… you know, save the hardest for last.

CarolHolly is learning Swedish!
For a while I’ve wanted to learn Swedish considering I want to visit Sweden and Finland in the near future, but mom brought up somewhat of a good point the other day: Since I’m going into business (?!), I should start with Japanese instead. I did, someday, want to visit Japan, therefore Japanese would have been my second choice.
I wanted to start with something “easy” to boost my confidence, therefore I wanted to learn Swedish first :DD hah! Japanese, with all those symbols, looks very complicated! And I hear sentence structure is very different from other languages.
Rosetta Stone is having a Father’s Day sale so I could get $100 off the 3 sets, but I can’t decide which one to buy!
I want to be able to actually speak french and/or spanish. I feel like my straight A’s in the subjects in high school and college are a good start, right?
So, I started speaking spanish as a child before English and I really miss it! I can understand a good amount still, but feel so sloppy speaking it. I just have to get over the embarrassment of butchering the language when I speak…it doesn’t have to be perfect for now right? I need to make friends again who speak spanish and practice! Maybe this should be my next goal on 43things?
Annie William Shatner's EZ-Stairs video is killing me
I had signed up to Livemocha ages ago but never really stuck with it, although I did find it worked for me to some degree [I was attempting to learn Spanish at the time]. The site seems to have changed a great deal since I last used it, but I might still give it a go again or at least try out a few different languages, it might help me finally decide where I want to go with this.
I am seriously contemplating transferring to Ollscoil Luimnigh (University of Limerick), which is in Ireland. I have been investigating the school and available degrees and have fallen in love with the Applied Languages degree. It involved becoming fairly fluent in 2-3 languages, and can be used to teach English as a second language, or to become an interpreter or translator, as well as various other career possibilities.

I have recently begun reading my teach yourself! Irish book, with more zeal and devotion than last time. I would prefer to take classes, but since that is not an option where I live, I am determined to teach myself as much as I can. I’ve not done too poorly; I recognize a lot more words and understand a bit more of their grammar.
Here’s to many more hours of studying!
