I think things need to be more like:
-volunteering/helping people
-taking time for myself/getting good grades in school(FOR ME)
-spending time with friends AND family
-going to work
Reading “Me to We” -Craig and Marc Kielburger, and reflecting on the past year has made me realize that volunteering or simply putting others ahead of yourself is the best way to actually help yourself. It makes you feel good, and it helps to put thing into perspective. The whole self-help culture is very strange in the way that it fosters the idea that community is not needed, and you have to look out for you and only you. And that’s not the way it should work, because nothing happens if we all are working against eachother.
School is over for the summer, so I’m not very worried about it now. And I’m feeling better about going to school this coming September (even though it’s going to be my giant work year, yay grade 11).
Hopefully I have it right this time.
so, i’ve got a LEAD (leadership enrichment and developement a.k.a. pull-my-hair-out-frustrating, geek/nerd patrol) assignment on time management now.
maybe that’ll help.
My boyfriend just broke up with me, and that’s got me thinking about my priorities. I need to figure out what’s most important to me, in life so I can set about doing them. Hey, I don’t have a boyfriend anymore, so I don’t have that little bit of a tug to reset my priorities to favor life with him, anymore.
