How to stop hitting the snooze button"It's so much easier now that it has become a habit to just get up when my alarm clock goes off the first time"
How I did it: After a lot of experiments (moving the alarm clock further away from bed, different ringing tones, going earlier to sleep etc.) I have finally found my way to stop snoozing. Lessons & tips:

How I did it: i made a commitment to wake up earlier and forced myself to, i went to be late that night so the next night i was tired and slept well. I gave up napping and got more organized with planning my days Read how I did it…
How I did it: Through the apple website i was able to download an alarm clock for my computer that will play an itunes song. It plays any song that you would like it to and you can change the song with a click of the button without having to reset the alarm. THere is an "easy awake" option which starts of super quiet and it gradually gets louder over the course of 2 minutes (you can select for it to happen quicker if you want). This is a much more plea… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I'm in college, and I kept missing my classes because I would wake up, hit the snooze button, and fall back asleep and sleep through class. This year, I jacked my bed about 4 feet off the ground so I need a step stool to get down. I put my alarm clock on the other side of the room. By the time I get out of bed to shut the alarm clock off, I'm already pretty awake. It works! Read how I did it…

I’m doing a lot better on this one. I’ve gotten a new alarm clock which has a 5-minutes snooze (instead of 10-minutes before) and I usually only snooze once (max twice) :)
I was starting to think if that maybe was enough but then I read this great article How To Get Up Right Away When Your Alarm Goes Off
The article is about how you can practice so that eventually your subconscious will take over and run the morning routine of getting up on autopilot – i.e. condition a new physiological response to the sound of your alarm.
When your alarm goes off, turn it off as fast as you can. Then take a deep breath to fully inflate your lungs, and stretch your limbs out in all directions for a couple seconds. Then sit up, plant your feet on the floor, and stand up. Smile a big smile. Then proceed to do the very next action you’d like to do upon waking.
Once the habit is established, it isn’t hard at all to get up, assuming you’re going to bed at a reasonable time (that is when you feel sleepy enough).
I’m going to give this a try before I check of this goal :) I’ll go to bed only when I’m too sleepy to stay up, and try get up at a fixed time every morning.
I love hitting the snooze button, and since it has kind of gotten the rule rather the exception to hit it a few times, I usually set my alarm accordingly to allow for it. I didn’t really see it as a problem until I started to do some math.
Lets say that I snoozes 3 times on average (10minutes each snooze) every morning, 5 times a week for a year this is what it looks like…
3×10x5×52= 7800 minutes per year => 130 hours
Now that’s a time I would like to spend doing something different!

First, I’ll start by going to bed before two every night. Haha. Second, I’ll set a goal to accomplish every morning that will require me to rise early. Additionally, I will begin taking showers in the morning, so that I am more cramped for time, until I can easily rise in the morning without hitting the snooze button ten or twenty times.
lonelillie can't sleep.
i need to get to work earlier! this time change has completely fucked me.

the mornings are difficult. If i would get to sleep earlier maybe i wouldn’t have such a tough time. I’m in bed at a reasonable hour, I just end up watching movies until much too late. Then the alarm, snooze, alarm, snooze… then crusty-eyed i attempt coffee and then drag myself into the shower. There has to be a better way.
When I was a child I used to jump out of bed happily! Now I constantly press the snooze button and end up rushing for work, sometimes being late. Horrible.
My bed is just too comfy! How come it never feels as incredible as in the morning when you first go to bed?
I’m gonna look through some of the ideas on here and try them.

I really like hitting the snooze button, and I’m realizing that it really isn’t a problem if I get up after the second snooze. I usually set my clock accordingly to allow for it. I feel more alert when I do get up, I really like that in-between time.
When it becomes a problem, is when I keep snoozing for longer, say an hour or so. That’s when I start sleeping in late, and having less time in the morning than I’d like.
I realize that part of this goal involves willpower in the morning. But another part is foresight in the evening—its much easier to get up in the morning if I don’t stay up too late.
So once I feel like I consistently get out of bed after the second snooze, I will mark this as done.
