Always do my best.

I can’t decide which of the Four Agreements are the hardest to do. Right now, I think it’s this one.

Today I found myself working by myself (a rare luxury) working to complete a design that somebody else started. I realised that finishing it off would be harder than wiping it out and doing it the old, right way that most of these geniuses never learned to do.

Why am I worried about sparing the feelings of people who regularly talk down to, and steamroller me into doing messed-up things?

So here’s what I did:

• I just selected the project and clicked “override and update” and blew away that old design.
• I then fixed four simple but totally messed up ideas that have been around since the days of people who are long gone from the project. I’ve been stepping around this little atrocities since day one but I’ve been keen not to make too much of a fuss about them.

I’m going to do things the right way and if other people don’t understand it tough. It’s not my job to teach these guys… they earn enough and they’ve got a reputation for being experienced – so let’s see how they cope with having to swallow it.

I’ve just been far, far to accomodating in the past. Now that I can see other job prospects on the horizon I feel that I’m up for a rebellion.;-)
