Stop saying "like" all the time

I didn’t say anything about it at the time, but I definitely did notice it. Talking to Sal and Shelby at IHOP. It got really bad at one point. Did either of you notice it? I can’t remember what I was talking about, but I think it was something pretty important. Or at least it seemed important at the time. You know, if that helps any.

Tonight I found that the length of time spent at IHOP and the level of coffee intake directly correspond with the number of “like”s per sentence. Will conduct further experiments to confirm these findings.

This came up in a conversation recently. I was talking to a friend when she brought up how she hates that she says “like” all the time. Her and I have tried to quit before, but we gave up because it was so overwhelming. (And annoying when it got to the point that we couldn’t have a normal conversation. We’d always be interrupted when one would point out to the other how many times they just said “like”.) But we’ve decided to try again to quit. With a few ground rules this time so it won’t be quite so annoying. Hopefully.

I, like, hate it when I do that.
