I changed careers from engineer to math teacher and it was the best decision I’ve made! If this sounds like you, go for it!!

i don’t have to teach math in any sort of official capacity, but i helped a coworker with some math when he put the wrong amount of water in the mixer for mixing up some bread dough. we converted some numbers, and voila. the recipe was adjusted. he admitted he needed some basic math help, and i said i’d help explain things anytime. i not only like to do math, but i love explaining it until i see the light bulb shine in the other person.
allogenes LaTeX: Because with great power comes great tediousness...
When it works it is wonderful. At its worst, it is hell.
I never thought I would do it but I finally bit the bullet and quit my job testing video games and went back to school to get my Master’s. It took some time, but now I am teaching at a great school with great kids. I know this is what I was meant to do!
i LOVE math. why didn’t i just major in math in college? that’s because i listened to my brother and majored in the miserable subject of electrical engineering. eeks. but i still have fond memories of mathematics . . . and i’d love to pass it on to other kids.
