Xmas is not my favourite time of the year. It’s all around food and more food.
Magda Szubanski has just gone public about her plans to loose weight. Wow. If you don’t know her for her work, you’ve missed out. She’s fabulous. But I know the track she’s been on as I’m on it. Best of luck Magda, you’re not alone, but everyone that’s been there knows that there will always be times you feel very alone. You’re already looking fabulous.
Me… I aim to get all the Xmas crap food out of the house (via eating or throwing it out, I do both) and get into a routine.
Bed by 8:30pm (it’s 11pm… start tomorrow… night).
Wake at 4:30am. Feed kitties.
Treadmill for at least 30min.
Make a decent healthy lunch.
Breakie, shower, train.
Start work at 7:30am.
Finish work at 3:30pm.
Home at 5pm.
Homework 6pm-8:30pm.
This is do-able, but I’m sooooo glad I don’t have kids…

The scales tell me I’ve lost 2kg in the last couple weeks when I’ve made no effort to fit in extra exercise or ‘diet’.
And… I’m not dehydrated, I only wear PJ’s when I weigh in, and I’ve occasionally over-eaten and eaten despicable foods such as shallow fried salmon croquette (first free-feed seminar-Wednesday in the new research building… would have been rude not to attend) and caramel slices from a local bakery I discovered near my train station.
So scales… I know you’re lying, but thank you so much for being kind. However the reflective glass walls in our new work building do not lie.
Still, 2kg is 2kg. That’s 2L of water in weight. I must have done something right even amongst all the wrong. So if I can leave out more of the wrong I can only do more right!
I know it takes about a week for your food choices to catch up with you, so maybe I won’t weigh myself next week and focus on that glittering little encouragement… that little 2kg I lost without any help or support from anyone.

from when we next go shopping. Thing is, I can do the restricted carbs and calories, but it’s hard to eliminate entire food groups from your diet.
However, it’s easier to have a black-n-white plan to follow, no point-counting that can be fudged. You either CAN or you CAN’T eat something. It just so happens to be CAN’T a lot if you’re a vegetarian on a restricted (no) carb diet.
I’m going to give myself a two week goal of Weight Watchers point-counting and see how I go… that way I can have my yoghurt AND eat it too :)
Just wish there was a support board for Weight Watchers like there is for people on the Tony Ferguson plan…

...but I think I put a few on before I finally started tackling this goal!
Still, my two weeks of low-carbs and low-calories had the desired effect, but I couldn’t sustain a severely restrictive diet without staples like chickpeas, Weet-Bix and bread. However, my teeth never ever got furry between brushing! How could they when even I didn’t get enough carbs to keep my engine turning-over?? Ketosis is a challenging experiment, but I wouldn’t live it.
So 4kg to go (and only another 20kg or so after that ;)
Shhhh…..!
