yeah! compost was delivered over the weekend and will be worked into the garden this week.

my seeds have completed their viability testing and i’ve purchased any that i needed which didn’t pass.

so far the total spent is about $32, and that includes seed starting mix.

hopefully i will be able to expand the size of the garden this year. 14 months ago

every year my vegy garden has some kind of theme running through it. this year it will be a poor man’s garden. i decided on this partially from my financial difficulties but mostly because i am a seed hoarder.

if i were to have my dream of dream jobs, it would be working for a seed catalogue company or a breeder or wholesale seed producer, i love my seeds. i love trying to get them to grow, observing their methods of dispersal and all the shapes and textures that they have. you can see why this is a problem when i stand in front of a seed rack at a garden center.

it’s the potential that they hold that intrigues me. but, i never make use of all of that. most of the seed i buy sits unused in my seed storage container. which given a few years builds up to a lot of seed just sitting there.

so this year i am cleaning out that storage container, throwing away any seed that is well past it’s expiration date, testing any that are questionable, and only buying what i truly need and am going to use. 14 months ago
