Actually, I’d like to make two. One for each guest room. Better talk to Beki!

How I did it: My quilt is made up of squares and a border of tiny squares. I used pre-cut blocks and strips to make this quilt - which made it really quick to do.I created all the rows first and then sewed all the rows together to create the full quilt. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I taught myself a few things, like how to piece the front together. Everything else I have learned from a book and from internet research. It's not so hard once you get the hang of it! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I cut fabric into 6" squares, and sewed each together by hand. When I had 19 squares across, I started another row. Once I had 30 rows sewn together I added quilt batting and a back, stitched the sides and it was ready to use. I did most of this while riding in the car on road trips. Read how I did it…

Shayleah is reviewing and revising her list...thanks LB for inspiring me! xo
I still want to do this but it’s not a priority at this time.

..to see if i can do it. i’ve already started. this is a pic of what i’ve done so far.. it’s going to have to get much much bigger before i’m ready to actually quilt it… it’s slow going, because i’m sewing the enire thing by hand.. i’m still having fun though.. i love it!!
I did a pillow case rather than a full quilt. Just a checkerboard design and even then I messed it up and have the same coloured squares lining up but it’s done and I don’t care! I’m just really happy that I made it through, it’s my little pillow case and I really enjoyed making it :-)
Bring on the next project!

I’ve picked a pattern and started to cut out pieces of fabric.
I hope I can stick with this. I’ve generally not been good at long term craft projects.

So, I’ve actually somewhat started this… I pulled out a bunch of old worndown items of clothing that I never wear and began cutting out strips that I can eventually cut into squares to make my quilt (oh and I did find a pattern, so I should clarify that I’m not completely disorganized in my cutting of fabric). I need to inevitably drag myself to a craft store and purchase some scraps of fabric.
I’ve resigned to the fact that this will be a long ongoing project, but I think it’ll be something fun to do when I’m puttering around. We shall see. I’m generally very good at start craft projects, but the follow through.. not so much.
I would love to sew a quilt. I have all of the tools for it, but need to learn how to sew using my sewing machine first. Before I can accomplish this goal, I will have to work on some smaller projects first. I want to do this because it will help me to feel better about myself. I will love the fact that I taught myself to sew and was able to create something beautiful and functional. Once I can make quilts, and I can make gifts for my friends and family that will be meaningful and unique. I want to begin working on my quilt no later than on this day next year.
I never was very interested in quilting (it seemed like an old lady thing) but lately I’ve seen so many beautiful, contemporary quilts that I want to make one of my own. How awesome would it be to snuggle up under something you made yourself? Anyway, this website (http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/quiltalong.html) has a quilt-along step-by-step so I’m going to try it out!!
| Deciding on a quilting pattern, and what colour threads to use is difficult! I have edged the quilt top, sewn a back, bought the padding and pinned it all together. It was the first time that my ironing board had been out in my current house, and we moved in ages ago! I hate ironing :-) It’s now ready to quilt, but I just have to make the last few decisions. Progress was slowed, thanks to the nearby bushfire which resulted in us having to evacuate with the cats to a friend’s house (blogged here). Luckily the firefighters got this fire under control quickly, and we were able to return early the following morning. This particular fire burned 400 hectares, but no houses were lost. Unfortunately the other Victorian fires have cause so much loss of life and damage (blogged here). Hopefully from now on, the weather will remain cool and wet. | ![]() |

After adding this goal, I discovered that I am not a quilter. While I admire quilts, I do not enjoy making them. I do, however like crocheting, so I am making my “quilt” (using the term very loosely so as to not offend) from multi-colored, crocheted squares. I am making up the pattern as I go, but think that there are only two more squares to go.
