practice and improve my chinese

I’ve made an agreement with my Mom that from now on I can only talk to her (and if my confidence allows it, other Chinese speakers) in Chinese and nothing else. No more Chinese-English hybrid talk. Also I’m going to start reading more in Chinese, be it newspaper or book. Granted I’ve the reading level of a six year old… but it has to be all or nothing for me now.

It may be a small move, but I need to get better in the near future or don’t at all. The older I get the harder it will be to return to a good level of fluency.

I find it helps a lot if I just keep speaking the language at every chance I get, no matter how small. Thinking in the language helps too. Hopefully not all of my Chinese has disappeared on me!
