The goal of all my goals 9 months ago

I have on my heart that I can be the minister to those disenfranchised from and wounded by the church. I feel I can facilitate a conversation and help lead a community that brings these people into a fullness of faith that is healing and inspiring. I have begun to “plant”. January 1, 2012 Indianapolis, IN the journey becomes a living breathing worshiping thing.

We are going to start a church! 18 months ago

Whether or not its easy shouldn’t determine the decision of starting a church; in fact we are starting a church without any money and only one income. A handful of people are already commited to attending, and we will probably have to start small in a garage or something, and then find a little church house to expand into. A few years ago we started a youth group out of our house, and that brought in several of the kids in town and then their parents. It was fun and saw a couple of healings take place during our services. This should be an exciting time, and a fresh start for the community.

I want to start a church to have a place that people I know and care about can go and have worship service freely and openly without be criticized for being who they are.

I want to start a church campground 22 months ago

Would like to buy some land and create a retreat, getaway for reflecting and having restful fun. Starting with a campground with a small chapel or something like that. Wondering what the county rules and zoning would have to be.

A never ending story 2 years ago

Not sure we will ever – or should ever – be done “building” or becoming a church, I was the founding pastor of Mission Bay Community Church in San Francisco, http://www.missionbaycc.org. The hardest work in ministry, but well worth it!

So be it 2 years ago

A successful night for our new church. We had five in attendance. I read from the Gospel of Thomas, and we had some readings from the poetry of Richard Brautigan.

Got the congregation notice 2 years ago

...so we are good to go. We’ll have to hold our first service soon! (And will consider this checked off when we have it…)

Making it official 2 years ago

Having gained my ordination from the Universal Life Church, I figure the next step is to start a congregation of my own. There’s no doubt that it will be a spiritual affair…and provide some unique perspectives on our lives.

Spiritual but not religious 3 years ago

I think that starting a church doesn’t have to be religious (in the conventional sense). There is space for spirituality and philosophy and brother/sisterhood without needing to bring god into it.
