Just went on http://routenote.com/ and uploaded the tracks. They should be avalaible on iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Spotify and more within 4 weeks!
Tomorrow, I’m talking to a radio to get it on air. Never done that before, so I’ll be out of my comfort zone again, which is good!

Audience was a little bit sleepy so the reception wasn’t what I expected…May be the fact i came on at 22:50 has something to do with it? But my camera buddy told me he would buy the song. I was chatting with my cousin from France and she reckons with no prior experience, she can write a song with her friend, cobble a Youtube video and rake in more views and fans than me and Dal! Went to another music mate who plays guitar. He composed a song he wanted me to lay down vocals for. I did that, it was pretty cool. Then he allowed me to use his gear to record a song I had in my head for ages. Didn’t have lyrics to it so I cobbled some together quickly. Its a kind of Rock/Soul song, with some shouting a la James Brown. It feels good singing it. Some major energy release. Might be another candidate for a summer hit! 13 months ago

We have the song pretty much done. We have the melody, the beat, the flow…all we need is lyrics. Gonna tweak the track a bit tho, so it sounds tighter. Tempo and some sounds were a bit all over the place. Watch this space ;-)

But just to explain how it went (mainly to fix it in my mind cause if I don’t and someone asks me how it went, I won’t be able to answer- my memory’s a sieve), here goes:

I arrived at my partner in crime’s (Dal) fashionably late. In my defense, I had had a long day and virtually no sleep – skin was sore, thanx psoriasis- then bathroom wasn’t free when I needed so I had to wait, then got stuck in traffic when I finally departed for the 1 hour journey.
So no wonder Dal just wanted to crack on. But I suggested that we have a listen of what Zouk sounds like so we can deconstruct it and revamp it. We listened to a few Zouk songs, Zouk compilations for inspiration. Then we set about our task.

Dal wrote a catchy base line. I wrote a beat. He added strings. We listened. Not enough Oomph. I re-wrote the beat. We were both happier. We add libbed a few melodies and lyrics to see how the song might go. We settled on a bridge, chorus and first two lines of the first verse. We will write a verse each on our own then meet again to collate. There’s gonna be some rapping too.

I’ve been listening to our recording all day today and I’m not bored yet so it can’t be bad! 13 months ago
