Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

so true.i believe the best way to know about a work is to work it.

My insight:In the end,we are all different aged children.Children who have been trained, obedient bunch of kids. And all the life we are playing with, afre games, little games, big games, some more complicated for us to understand.Letting go of the rat race, and focussing in giving the best game you got,in the fluidity of emotion and thought,is the only thing we really need to do in life. 18 months ago

Don’t give in the irresistible urge to conform to life or rebel. In the silence of your thoughts lies an individual.

9 key things i learned from the how to live longer than 100 talk on ted by Dan Brunett which absolutely touched my soul.I think I picked up atleast 2 role models for how I want to be when I am 90..

A talk by Keith Chen on Ted on how languages that are timeless (no concept of separating past, present and future) are better at handling money.I just love the idea of a language with no concept of time, and a thinking in which today, tomorrow and the past are equally important and relevant to feelings.

All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.

The Solidago GirlDay 3 may 7th

The way to move ahead from fear is to see the greatness beyond the fear, till it envelops it

Give time, time to heal, and focus on happiness to bring happiness in life.Time with happiness can withstand any storms life brings.

Difficulties come when you don’t pay attention to life’s whisper. Life always whispers to you first, but if you ignore the whisper, sooner or later you’ll get a scream.

So I am thinking of cooking for some loved ones. And actually doing it alot, seems like fun. 2 years ago

The Solidago GirlMy aims for life and now...

Work, work which I enjoy, which is challenging, fulfilling and satisfying. It gives me a thousand experiences at once.

Friends and family and people in general. This includes animals too and trees.Every living thing I can love and love back, always have something to give to someone who comes to me and always have love to share no matter how I feel.

Spirit.Feel connected to now, remember what is sacred and never bargain something eternal for something that can end or is fleeting or empty.

Security,Financial,my education,my people i care about,my health, small tedious things that save me from bigger problem.Keep caution in my head for troubles yet to come, and mind open to embrace opportunities.

Health.Spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and my image of self.I wanna be healthy till I die,and live a fulfilling and love filled life with peace and care in my heart. 2 years ago

The Solidago GirlToday quotes

“There are only four questions of value in life. What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same: only love.”-Duan Juan
I believe this is true..

Money, titles wealth and all, they can secure you,and are needed to be chased. But true love and reason to live dwells for other people, not yourself.

Seek love. And let it envelop everything else.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.”

“You don’t love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.” 2 years ago

The Solidago GirlTop five regrets of the dying http://www.inspirationandchai.com/Regrets-of-the-Dying.html

Thought I’d share this ..

A nurse has recorded the most common regrets of the dying, and among the top ones is ‘I wish I hadn’t worked so hard’. What would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life?

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

“This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.”

2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.

“This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret, but as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.”

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

“Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.”

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

“Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.”

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

“This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content, when deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.” 2 years ago

The Solidago GirlQuote for today

“There is something terribly morbid in the modern sympathy with pain. One should sympathise with the colour, the beauty, the joy of life. The less said about life’s sores the better.”
Oscar Wilde

“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
Bob Marley

“The struggle of my life created empathy – I could relate to pain, being abandoned, having people not love me.”
Oprah Winfrey

“Given the choice between experience of pain or nothing,I would choose pain.”

“How much pain have cost us the evils which have never happened.”
Thomas Jefferson

“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.”
Mother Teresa

Bless a thing and it will bless you. Curse it and it will curse you…If you bless a situation, it has no power to hurt you, and even if it is troublesome for a time, it will gradually fade out, if you sincerely bless it. —Emmet Fox

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. —Anne Frank

Never willfully ignore beauty, because we have a moral and religious obligation to appreciate God’s creation.” 2 years ago
