Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

akaTo go or not to go

We are going to attend my sister’s wedding this August. Only it’s really bittersweet at the moment. We haven’t talked for 3 weeks after our last hurtful conversation. When I had my first anxiety attack, I told her how scared I was and how lost I felt. She called me 2 times within next month (we previously talked almost every day). She didn’t answer my calls or texts. What happened is she simply blocked negative stuff (me being sick) out of her mind. She did it before too. When we talked last time and I confronted her she got so defensive and told me that all I usually do is complain about my health so she didn’t realize that I was in any more “danger” than usual. I was speechless and told her I have to go. How is my health less important than her endless boyfriends problems? Or her online store that she discusses endlessly with me? Am I a lesser person than her? I know that we have to put it behind, but apology is required. We never before had a conflict for so long. I mean, she would disappear and appear out of my life, but never on bad terms.
Our trip is shaping up to be difficult and expensive. First of all, I fly alone (V. flies later and goes straight to Romania). I am skipping Romania this year. My return ticket will be around 1500 CAD till Minsk. His will be more because literally nothing flies from Romania to Belarus (the ticket he found was like 700 CAD one way!) And it’s less than 2 hour flight. When we will be in Minsk, we will be staying with parents (plus sister, plus dog) in a 2 bedroom apartment. It’s always so stressful and chaotic. And to add wedding preparations to that… I’m feeling anxious already. At least she’s moving with her husband to be after the wedding. Hopefully, next year my parents will visit us here so we don’t have to go every year but still will see them. 2 years ago
