I haven’t been keeping up with this goal very well lately, but I need to buckle down. The summer will be over before I know it, and there are a lot of things I need/want to do before going to Europe (training, practicing my Spanish, plus taking care of some person/logistical details) late this summer or early fall.11 months ago

- Volunteer at the homeless shelter on Wednesday afternoon/evening. (I’m changing this to Wednesday because I’d like to start creating a habit of making Wednesday a day of renewal. I’d like to go to the monastery and visit with my sangha, hear the lecture, meditate with the monks/nuns and other lay practitioners, have lunch with them at the monastery, and then go the the homeless shelter and volunteer by helping prepare, serve, and clean up after the evening meal.)

- Continue to get caught up on communications (emails, texts, phone calls, comments, entries, etc).

So far I haven’t been doing a so great with this goal. The first week I only accomplished about half of what was on my list and the second week I completely forgot to make a list. These are intentions and not things that absolutely have to be done this week (honestly… there isn’t much in life that absolutely has to be done ever), but I would like to get most of them done this week, though I am sure some of them won’t get accomplished because other things will come up, and that’s okay.13 months ago

I decided to start this goal because I’d like to start being more deliberate about what I accomplish. I’ve tried goals (either on here or privately) where I would write down daily to-do list. Those are helpful sometimes, but I think this goal will serve me better. Unlike a lot of people… I don’t keep a regular schedule and I have a lot of free time (except for 8-10 weeks every summer, I don’t really work full time). This free time is a blessing and a curse at the same time because I always feel like I can put things off. I think this goal will better serve me because it takes into account a larger time frame (which works with instead of fighting against my laid back nature and my lifestyle), but also because the use of the word “intentions” frees me from beating myself up over anything on the list that could evolve or change in both nature, desire, and/or urgency.13 months ago
