"An amazing confidence booster!"

How I did it: All throughout high school I wanted to take singing lessons.  I loved Broadway music and loved singing more than anything, but it was not my "career path" and my parents didn't want to pay for it.  Finally, my senior year I convinced my parents to let me take lessons if I payed for them.

I took singing lessons not because I wanted to be a singer, but because I wanted to feel better about how I sounded when I sang, because it was obvious that I was going to continue loving to sing no matter what career I was in.  After just a few months my singing teacher suggested I try out for my school play.  I was absolutely amazed when I got called back for the lead role.  I had never thought of my voice as lead-role material, and the call back gave me a huge boost of confidence in myself.  I didn't get the lead, but I did learn a lot of valuable techniques that have helped improve my singing voice.  I'm even joining my college choir in the spring!

Lessons & tips:

  • Don't give up if your parents are what are holding you back.  Offer to pay or work for them!
  • If you love to sing, but it's not the career you want to get into, don't let it stop you from taking lessons! It's still worth it!

How I did it: I signed up for lessons at a place near me. My instructor actually said I had potential XD. That's surprising since a lot of people tell me I can't sing very well...I don't know...she's being paid so she's probably just saying it. But we'll see if I get any better. I've only gone to a couple lessons. and its once a week...there's not much more to say but it wont let me publish this unless i type so much.......... Read how I did it…

    I’ve always loved to sing! It’s kindof like my therapy, whenever I’m feeling sad I just put my itunes on shuffle and sing my heart out and its a big help. And from what I’m told I actually dont suck at it! It’d be way cool to take voice lessons, but the problem would be getting used to belting it out infront of another person lol that makes me sketchy!

    I love to sing. But I’m not sure if I’m good at it and could use some coaching. It’s been years since I was part of a choir and I have a very hard time putting myself out there to perform. Stagefright! Also, when there’s a song that really means something to me, I have a hard time controlling my emotions.

    So I found my long-lost brother, right? And he’s fricken amazing. He’s 21 and plays guitar, and has recorded an album before. It was a rap album… Now he wants to do a rock album. And me, being a vocalist, went, HELL YEAH, LET’S DO IT! So now I’m sort of in a band with him. And I REFUSE to record anything until I’ve taken voice lessons. Recording is a while away though. I just really want to very soon..

    I really love singing. So much so, that I’ve been a vocalist in several bands. My idol is Amy Lee from Evanescence. I’ve always wanted to be as good as her… And I’ve definitely considered taking Vocal lessons. I REALLY want to do this.

    take classes private ones at North seattle college to. and just so i can know how for places like church and concerts etc. maybe one day record your own songs and sell them. ha-ha.
