Switched to eco-friendly products 20 months ago

The great thing about switching to environmentally friendly products has been that I have found Shaklee to be the most effective environmentally friendly products on the market.
I switched because of health problems and was tired of use a box of Puffs everyday. Now I only use about 4 a day, Thanks to these Shaklee products, The bonus is that you can share the product with others who are interested in having safe products for their children and the environment. The cleaners on the store shelves have so many toxic effects that they are very harmful. Even something as innocent as window cleaning solution is very harmful when inhaled. No wonder there are so many sick people around. When you use the Shaklee line of products, you can be assured that you are using safe, non-toxic products that are in harmony with nature and good health. I have enjoyed tremendous inprovement to my health problems and can help you do the same. Email daytonwilksLuxeliving.net. what to use? 23 months ago

I’ve tried Seventh Generation, Method, and EcoSaver products to name a few. Well that’s most. And any other random ones I don’t remember the names of. I LOVE EcoSaver’s toilet bowl cleaner. I know that’s an odd thing to rant online about but it was the best cleaner I ever used. Much better than the more corrosive mainstream kinds. It even got off that pesky water ring that minerals leave and that can be nearly impossible to remove.
Mostly I used Method’s products. I get them from Target and my grocery store and sometimes BJs or Costco. I know I hate using large marketers but that’s where I can get this stuff. I’ve heard Method isn’t as green as some other brands but I can’t find any more info on this. Anyway. They work. They smell great and come in unscented if you prefer. I feel like my house is getting clean and that I’m better off without all those chemicals to breathe in. I’m not worried about getting chemicals on my skin and the long term effects of that. Plus I am happy not to be washing poisons down the drain into our water supply.
I’m open to suggestions is anyone else knows more about how green Method is or isn’t. And ideas for products that work also. And changing over to friendly products was easy to me. It meant alot to me and I didn’t think it was a hard change.

I highly recommend Nature Clean to anyone in Canada 2 years ago

I found Seventh Generation powder to leave a LOT of residue on my dishes, white powdery grains, especially inside my cups and glasses. I got tired of having to use a rag to clean out all my supposedly clean dishes, and bought a box of Nature Clean (even better, they are a local Ontario company) downtown at the grocery store. Now my drinking glasses actually do shine and don’t have greasy residue* or white powder left on them like they did before. I’m really glad to have found something else that works because I really don’t want to go back to Cascade/store brand. *You know, like the oils your hands sometimes leave on things.

Nature Clean laundry powder is still working great for our clothes, but I also bought some Method unscented liquid on sale at Shoppers last weekend. I think this is OK but I’m not totally sure. At least it increases the demand for fragrance-free cleaning products someplace outside of the health food store.

I’m still shopping for a toothpaste I can tolerate. I don’t think I can stand the “normal” kind anymore but I haven’t found an alternative that I like either.

I switched our laundry detergent and haven’t noticed a difference, which is great news. The dishwashing liquid seems a lot different (less thick, like the ecover mentioned below) so I don’t know if we’ll stick with this brand. But I think the new dishwashing powder will work out fine.

“Launching” the new toothpaste in the next few days.

I bought them. We’ve got to use up the old stuff (I guess?)... we’ll see how it goes when/if he starts using it too.

has anyone noticed 2 years ago

that ecover washing up liquid (dish soap?) gets used up much quicker than other types? maybe because it is less thick. that makes it quite expensive.

    ecover 2 years ago

at the moment i’m only using ecover washing powder (but adding a non-ecologically-friendly stain remover on difficult stains). it works well, though is a little more expensive. want to gradually change over one product at a time but it’s difficult as i live in a shared house and we buy cleaning products together, and no-one has that much money as we’re all students.

I am doing this too... 2 years ago

The chemicals in these products these days are just way too harsh. I’m using Melaleuca’s products (Ecosense – by Melaleuca) I’m sure there are other great ones out there, but I love these—especially the laundry detergent!

This is a great idea by the way. I’m glad you posted this and I hope many other people catch on.
