    I'm a joiner  — 3 days ago

    Worth doing!

Since my last entry I completed my phase test, got all my work signed off and left college. I have been fitting kitchens for Kiers and the company who employ me have gave me my own van and put me on the same price as their other joiners. So thats probably the biggest thing on my list that i have achieved. Job done!

Sarah is having a lazy day. And going to go to the bike shop yay :)

Not so much giving up so to speak...  — 2 weeks ago

I have thought alot lately about my career goals, and decided to apply to enrol in an architectural course. Hopefully I am accepted!! If so, I will be on my way to eventually recieving a diploma in Architectural technology!!!

    i wanna  — 4 months ago

I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile, so its now become a goal, i want a trade to fall back on, since i’m the only bread maker in this house i want to better our lives and be something not just for money but to feel like i have achieved something in my life and shown my kids its never to late to learn and try to better yourself…so even though hairdressing doesn’t seem like much to some, its what i want to do, and it will be another creative outlet and i will be able to run it as my own bussiness later..

    Worth doing!

In December I did all my final exams and passed with flying colours. Ive finished all my portfolios, my practical work and all my packwork. All I have left between me and my NVQ is my phase test where I have 3 hours to fit a door and all its bits.

On another note, The company I work for does work for the Kier company and we all have to have photo ID’s done. Got mine and they’ve named my occupation as Joiner!!! My first professional recognition!!!

Slowly but surely.  — 10 months ago

    Worth doing!

Well, I am now working for a joinery firm fitting kitchens. I did my first one on my own a few days ago and have been given one a week to do until after christmas where I will be on them five days a week. Which coincidently coincides with when I should hopefully finish college and be a qualified tradesman. So all things considered I am aiming for completing this task within the next six months max.

    Yippeeeeeee!!

Almost there!  — 10 months ago

    Worth doing!

well, im getting closer to my goal. Although i did say in my 1st entry that i will have my trade before 2007 is over it is now more likely to be early 2008 (college politics). But i do now work with a joinery company and am currently fitting kitchens for them so unofficially i am a joiner. Watch this space for news of when i finally get my ticket.

And so it begins......  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

ever since i left school i always chased the money. going from job to job never really picking up a craft/trade. its only now – ten years later that i suddenly realise the importance of knowing a trade.

well, ive started on the path to learning a trade and the trade i am heading for is to have an NVQ level 2 in carpentry. i aim to have this before the end of 2007.

    Why?  — 1 year ago

We middle class United Statesians are a weak people. Where is our sense of self reliance? Where is our individualism and strength? Where is the “Do It Yourself” spirit? Plumbing and automotive repair come to mind.

Bucher, baker, candlestick maker.  — 1 year ago

I’m thinking of doing a blacksmithing short course but I’d really love to be able to do carpentry or mechanics. Something practical that’ll put a roof over my head after my looks have gone – ha!
