I used to quilt a lot, then my vision got crappy for really close needle work, and I quilted on a machine which was just not the same. I’m wearing peepers now for reading and other small detailed visual work, so may be I can take up quilting again. God knows, I have the material and patterns from years of collecting. Can you say fabricolic? I knew you could …

In the making 2 years ago

Well, I have found the perfect thing to motivate me to make another quilt. My daughter’s baby sitter is a wonderful quilter and she makes so many of them that she gives them to the hospitals in the area for underprivileged children. Well since I have some free time this week I decided to help her cause. I have started a quilt. The picture above is one of the panels I made for it.

I didn’t make the quilt that I intended to make but I did make another quilt! I made a quilt for my friends who will be having their first baby (a boy) in June. Now I need to move on and make a quilt for myself!

I have issues! 3 years ago

I have the fabric, I have the specifications for the quilt, I have everything that I need…yet I keep buying more fabric and planning other projects! I just finished a purse which I super love but have not even started cutting out the fabric for my quilt.

I have discovered a great site that has been giving me all kinds of sewing inspiration: www.crafster.org It has almost every type of craft in a discussion board with a place to show finished projects and ask questions. I think that I need to stop looking there and start working here!

    Next steps 3 years ago

I have the fabrics picked out that I want to use for my next quilt. It really is the hardest part! I’ve also been watching Simply Quilts on HGTV to continue to be inspired and to get some tips. I can’t wait to actually get started on my second quilt!

    Planning stages 3 years ago

I want to do an artsy quilt this time—-less traditional than a regular block pattern. I have been browsing at other people quilts on the web and looking at art galleries for inspiration. I have some ideas in mind and will have to start planning in earnest before I can even get started purchasing fabric.
