visit the Great Barrier Reef

Everyone says the coral is dull. I thought it better than expected. I swam close to 30cm torquese & yellow fish. There were others but not as big or bright. The schools were small. For my first experience of snorkling it was tops.

.... The Great Barrier Reef was becoming extinct. Predictions stated that within 20 years it would be dead.

Due to this I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to see it in my lifetime.

This is the main reason for our visit to the Whitsundays. Tomorrow we go to the reef!

Australia seems cool and I was watching a program on the Animal Channel and they showed the many species of fish and coral that lived there and it was amazing. There was tons of color and it would also lead me to learn to scuba dive which I expect to be tons of fun.

this was awesome. i swam/ snorkelled off an island in the middle of the barrier reef. words can’t describe the experience…

i have my ticket booked for tomorrow! i can’t wait. it even includes a scuba dive!!

I spent 7 nights here, it was so relaxing. This is only one of 3 islands right on the Great Barrier Reef. It was unspoilt and beautiful. Stayed right outside a lagoon where I could snorkel whenever there was high tide. Saw so many gorgeous fish, beautiful coral, clams, turtles, even saw a manta ray!

It’s always been my dream to go to the Great Barrier Reef. It doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult, but so far I haven’t been able to accomplish it. One day…

Am researching into either going to Lady Elliot Island or Heron Island to find nemo.
