I wonder if cavemen had an earthen annexe filled with wear-worn hides, unloved pottery gifts from mothers-in-law, and defunct tools reserved as insurance against unlikely scenarios. I have this gathering thing down to a fine art.
I have boxes and old suitcases I have never unpacked; in two years I have failed to fully commit to this house. We’ve toyed with the idea of an entertainment room, a gym (too guilt-inducing), a study and other functional designs. Why not a planetarium or a labyrinth of trompe-l’oeil? Ideally, I want to create something that is a balance of function and fancy. Something that pleases us both but doesn’t look like two halves of different worlds thrown together without union. Ideas and inspiration very welcome! 12 months ago
