I injured my leg and haven’t been able to practice much. Maybe in the spring again…

I am drawn to aikido, without really having much knowledge about it … but instead a consistent interest and curiosity.
...for at least this autumn actively again. Then I can evaluate this goal again.
alltough it takes years to develop the posibility of using aikido as self defence, once u are at that point not many martial arts will be able to compete, mainly because a real aikidoka doesnt consider himself to be in a conflict. Without an opponent there is no battle. In reality someone who uses aikido as self defence isnt really fighting, but just using the power and agression that his opponent brings to him to his advantage. An attack makes you vulnerable and that’s what seperates aikido from other martial art. I’m training for about 9 months now and im not nearly close to that point but you see lots more flaws in the movements of other people. Also while you are training your body in aikido, your mind gets lots of training aswell. In the end it all comes down to balance and who is most balanced in all aspects of life. In any conflict the most balanced will always win and balance is what is most important while training aikido aswell.
Many greetings to all of you from Belgium
Yes I did it!. Just had my first lesson of Aikido.
Personal opinion: I think it’s great.
The only difficult part is that al lot of the people there already train there for about a year or more. So I look really a rookie among them. But you have to start somewhere.
