I joined the staff choir at work last year, and I love it. We’ve sung at various events in Cork and beyond, and I’m making some good friends through it, so it was definitely worth stepping outside my comfort zone to do it!

How I did it: Everytime i felt insecure about others hearing me i just looked away from their faces and made believe they werent there. I started singing quietly to myself and then gradually got louder

I’m scarred from an incident that happened years ago in which an exboyfriend (post-breakup) made a comment about how my singing sucks. So now no matter how many people tell me that they like my singing and no matter how elaborate the compliments are, I still find myself stopping myself mid-verse once I realise I’m singing.
I think it’s sad that some douche ruined things for me. I think it even worse that I let him.
I can come up with lots of good songs that people can sing OVER and OVER and OVER . . .
