JoyAnother Impromtu Shoot!

On Saturday my dance instructor called me and asked me if I’d be willing to pose in some of her costumes so her photographer husband could inventory her products. I think she’s going to move some of her business online so she needs pictures for her website.

I got to pose in two costumes so hopefully at least one of the shots will be usable for my portfolio! 2 years ago

JoyMini Shoot! And other news!

I recently went to Burning Man (and if you haven’t gone/don’t know about it…I highly recommend to the artistic/spiritual/raver souls out there), and one of my nightly excursions found myself and my travel companion in an art bus…and art MUNI bus to be exact (yes, someone brought a MUNI bus…to the middle of nowhere in the desert…he got it on eBay…go figure!). We were waiting out a duststorm traveling around the playa visiting all the artburns.

I was wearing my silver mask and black corset and feeling pretty foxy. A gentlemen on the bus asked if he could take my picture. I happily obliged. He introduced himself as Chris and we snapped a few impromptu shots.

Fast forward to after the trip. I perused Flickr and FOUND the photos of me tagged in a Burning Man photoset (talk about serendipity!) Chris, as it turns out, is on top of being an entrepreneur who has sold two of his companies to Monster.com, an ex-military pilot, and a Harvard MBA…is also a passionate photographer in his “spare” time.

We found each other on facebook and may just set up a photoshoot for another day I’m in the city!

Also, I was contacted by one of my photographers on my modeling site to set up a shoot this month. I’m little nervous, but getting pumped up. This guy is pretty wild in his exposition, but I think the experience will be really fun.

AND my boyfriend and I have continued to play around with shooting me using my new DSLR. We’re mainly using the shots as photo references for his paintings, but a few of them may become a part of my port.

Finally, I am STILL trying to track down those photos from the film project I worked on last February. My friend may have sadly lost the CD but is getting in touch with the photographer for a new copy fingers crossed.

So:

1. Mini Shoot
2. Photo Reference Shoot
3. Modeling Site Shoot
4. Old stills from film project

That makes FOUR shoots (maybe five if I work with Chris again). I am well on my way to achieving this goal. Hooray! 2 years ago

JoyNew Contact

I was contacted by a very interesting photographer on the modeling site I’m on, so I’m trying to set up a shoot for September. I’m also working with my boyfriend on doing a shoot for an art series he’s doing (very excited about this one) which should be happening later this month. After that, I need to get back in touch with an older contact I made about a bodywork shoot, which hopefully will include some bodypainting by the man but I need to pitch the idea to the photographer first.

So consider the irons in the fire. 2 years ago

JoySerendipity

A week ago, while filming my friend’s movie scene, a security guard (of all people!) who was helping us with our shoot, whipped out his high-res DSLR camera and took stills of our work. I got some of the proofs from that shoot and some are going to be portfolio-worthy. Turns out the guy used to be a photographer/videographer before he retired to security guard work. Next weekend when we finish the last bit of filming he offered to take some headshots for me for my port. I’m totally stoked and really grateful for his generosity. :) 3 years ago

JoySo...

I’m on model mayhem and I’ve made a few contacts. I think in March or April I’m going to start booking some TFP/CD shoots. There’s also a collaborative shoot I’m trying to mastermind between a photographer and my friend who is painter. Should be really exciting if it works out. crosses fingers3 years ago
