It’s really too big and dramatic a play in many ways for this incredibly tiny space, but they did a lovely job. I particularly enjoyed Maureen Adduci, Jon Ferreira, and Elisa MacDonald. And the horses.
The dramaturg for the production blogs about it here:http://www.valhallaturgy.blogspot.com/—very neat!

The first birthday weekend thing – a romp through the Dark Ages with a very modern sensibility. A couple of great performances, several quite competent ones, and a funny, clever script added up to a lovely (if rather exhausting) evening. Perhaps not quite worth the 48 dollar ticket price, but them’s the breaks when it comes to theater. :-)

The former you ought to know about.
The latter, an electronic/latin/jazz sextet we saw at the Regattabar tonight on the spur of the moment. I love it when we do that—it happens so rarely! They were good; not the most dynamic performers, but definitely some delicious ear-candy.

On the one hand lovely, because outdoor theater in an intimate setting in late summer is always lovely—on the other hand disappointing, because the acting and direction fell far short of the wonderful production we saw at the Huntington a few years ago. I still love this play, though. Always challenging, always rewarding.

Sweet, sweet latin “jazz” with Jenn and two of her med school friends—so much fun.

...at the Montreal Jazz Festival, where we will be this 4th of July weekend. YAYYYYY!
We’ll probably catch a couple of free shows while we’re there, too. These concerts are all at night so we’ll have our days free for biking, walking, photographing, eating lots of French food and drinking way too much coffee.
