How I did it: I signed up for a class at the college. Free tuition is a powerful motivator. I learned so much about how to use my camera. Of course, some I could have learned by reading the manual. :-) But I also learned about how to set up pictures and other important things. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have taken many classes on photography and have gotten something different out of every one of them. I started in high school and am now a photo major in college. How do you do it? Sign up! Just be prepared to invest a lot of time and a bit of money. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I've done this twice now -- once as a community ed course and once as a community college class. Both times I didn't really LEARN anything -- I think it was more bad luck with instructors than that it's impossible to have a good photography class. But that was my experience, and I don't plan to try it again. Two disappointments is enough :) Read how I did it…

How I did it: There was a local class going on. I read about it in the newspaper. It was for manual photography. Usually, you'll get photo assignments and you'll have to bring in pictures you've taken. After a while, you'll start seeing everything through a camera lense. And photo-op will become a big part of your vocabulary. As will the sunny-16 rule : ) Read how I did it…
How I did it: M pictures (at home) were always good, and I enjoyed taking pictures. I searched the web for courses in my area and found one, called them and started! I learned how cameras work, the technical and artistic part of photography and took A LOT of pics. I love doing it, and there are still several other levels! Read how I did it…

I’m taking a Photo/Video lab right now but I’m probably going to drop it for science research.
Why am I so terrible at finishing things?
I took an introduction course to black and white film photography in college at the Craft Center. It was an excellent course and I improved in overall skill and knowledge of using manual on my SLR, composition, development and printing. I started taking a second course the following semester “How to Make Better Pictures” however couldn’t attend for the full semester due to starting a new job. The B&W Introduction course gave me a love of doing the entire process myself from start to finish and an equal respect for digital and film. When I eventually settle down in a location for a long enough I would like to set up a small basic darkroom in my house and also start doing color development which is more complex than just black and white.
Photo is one of the earlier photos I took, developed, printed, and eventually used a 35mm film negative scanner to upload.
Last weekend I went camping… I went to the Sequoia National Forest. It waw absolutely beautiful. I saw the most amazing sights ever, so I went crazy with the camara snapping away. But when I got home and took a look at my pictures I realized they sucked…

Took photo classes with Dennis Keeley. He’s photographed many famous musicians, and having him bring an art background into that realm brought a broad base of ideas to our class critiques. Definitely challenging because he demanded the best, but you really learn your stuff. I’d rather an instructor really challenge and question me, rather than tell me “that’s good.” You have to appreciate and use constructive criticism to learn and grow, especially in the arts.

Ive always wanted to take a photography class. I think I have a pretty good eye, and believe that a class could only improve it.

This one’s gonna have to wait till fall…I plan on taking a class at the Idaho State extension in Idaho Falls. Until then, I’m just messing around a lot on my own.
I would like to improve my photography so that when I retire I can make at least part of my income from photography.
Everyone enjoys photos, why not take photos that simply look better than you usually can take.
