How to be a massage therapist
How I did it: I applied to a massage school and spent my summer in the intensive program from 9 am to 6 pm. I took courses on Anatomy and Physiology, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports therapy, Hydrotherapy, Preganancy and Infant massage, and Asian studies.
Lessons & tips: Enroll in school and do your best! Make sure it's something you really want to do before you go to school because it's expensive.

and felt like they were trying to brain wash me the entire time I was there. They weren’t just about homeopathic remedies, they were also all about ridiculous government conspiracy theories. They spent a lot less time teaching massage than they did “the government is poising our water supplies” etc, etc. I did very little massage and just felt like I wasted $7000 on learning inaccurate bull shit.
My advice for anyone looking into this is to be very careful about what school you choose. Pick a professional, scientific school. The school I went to SEEMED like one of those. Srsly. BE CAREFUL.
I only have 3 more classes, state board exams, money and job searching holding me back from pressing the “I’ve done this,” button! Wish me luck!
The only thing to do is just do it! This is the most fun I’ve ever had at work, and hearing people say “John, this doesn’t hurt anymore!” is the best praise I can get from a job. This is a great career! Go for it!

It’s not something I feel I have to be. It’s something I thought I should do, so the passion and the need isn’t quite there. I might rethink this one though. A good friend went through all the trouble of researching info on the subject, but my heart isn’t into it. Maybe later on.
absolutely worth doing..i’ve been doing it for about 7 years
but DO ask yourself why you’re doing it first..
and then make sure you stay on THAT focus
Is it for money? Happiness? Both? If both, how will you balance?
Some schools emphasise technical, while others the spiritual aspects..some are more Eastern medicine oriented, some Western..
Answering these questions will help you find the perfect school for you—and the perfect space to work in as well.

I like giving them to friends and family. It’s been on my mind for awhile, but I didn’t think that the idea alone would suffice. It’s been more of a serious thought to pursue. I won’t quit acting. Maybe both will exist in my life, maybe Massage will take over, maybe the massage career idea will dwindle or I’ll drop out.
I am attending a wonderful holistic massage therapy school and will graduate in 3 months. It’s a terrific program and my teachers and classmates are fantastic. I am now giving student massages at a discounted rate! I love it!
Aaaaaannnnnd it looks like it’s going to work out really well for me. We’ve already learned full body swedish and let’s just say I’m pretty damn good at it. I haaaave to study anatomy more though if I plan on graduating. My school stresses the phsyiological effects of massage a lot, so we need to know a lot of anatomy.
