Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Today I…
*Got up before 7am for probably the first day since school ended. Mornings are nice :)
*Went to the training session that I organized myself, and had fun talking with 5 friends as we worked out
*Asked for feedback on above session and it was overwhelmingly positive!
*Did my ab work
*Did a sudoku
*Coached my Beginner fencing class by myself (usually the head coach is at least in the room)
*Will have J over after dinner

Today I…
*Continued going through my old journals
*Wrote some
*Found the sudoku book, and did 2 puzzles
*Started sorting books in the basement for storage/donation
*Read “All The Things I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”
*Confirmed conditioning plans for tomorrow morning
*Did my ab exercises
*Will, at this pace, get to bed before midnight

*Did NOT sit there and mope when I was feeling down; I went for a 3-mile walk through the neighborhood
*Played gin rummy with Mom
*Finally set up the training sessions, and will see everyone at the park on Saturday! And then hopefully Tuesday…
*Made plans to have dinner with a good friend Monday
*Went to 2 fencing classes: did LOTS of conditioning, cooed over my coach’s kid (15 months and all chubby cheeks and smiles), and met a girl who’s new at the club
*Did my ab exercises
*Played my trumpet for a bit (mostly Star Wars music)

*Probably hot tub tomorrow

Today I…
*Went to the doctor again and set up final appointment for next week
*Went to the garden center with Mom
*Did a couple of sudokus
*Hung out in the basement during a tornado warning
*Managed to lose the sudoku book
*At fencing, got some great touches on J as well as G (another excellent fencer)
*Drove home from fencing in torrential rain and near-continuous lightning
*Stayed up till 11:30 watching lightning and listening to rain, hail, and thunder
*Did my ab exercises 2 years ago


Today I…
*Coached a birthday party at my fencing club and earned a big tip!
*Was able to pick up more coaching hours for next week and later in the summer
*Halfway cleaned my room. The other half is out of the way at least.
*Ate healthily & jumped rope in an attempt to cancel out yesterday’s chocolate chip bacon cookies. They were TOTALLY worth it, though.
*Fenced decently, and saw my “long-lost” friend C again! Glad to have her back.
*Felt considerably better after continuing my journal entry from yesterday. Still in the process of figuring stuff out, but I’m making progress.
*Did my ab exercises for the 8th day in a row
*Did 2 sudokus

Today I…
*Planned to get a lot done
*But instead my best friend wanted to hang out, so we made bacon chocolate chip cookies (yes, you did read that right) and watched a bunch of episodes of Better Off Ted.
*Did my ab exercises for the seventh day in a row
*Did a sudoku or two
Played my trumpet for a bit
*Did a whole lot of soul-searching. Working through a big…thing. More about it later, perhaps.

Today I…
*Fought a major case of the blahs. Hopefully will feel better tomorrow after a hot shower, some Tylenol, and a good night’s sleep.
*Successfully limited myself to a small amount of chocolate to help with the above
*Bought new tennis shoes. Yay for $10 off coupons!
*Did my ab exercises for the 6th day in a row, and added a minute-long plank
*Did my leg muscle evenness exercises [fencers are prone to having different-sized muscles on each leg, which can cause icky musculoskeletal issues like scoliosis]
*Finished one sudoku puzzle; erased the ones where I’d messed up. Forty-five to go.

Today I…
*Finished my weekend chores
*Fenced really well at practice today—noticeable improvement on a couple of actions, and I almost beat J, which is incredible; he’s one of the best fencers in the state
*Found and used the jump rope: cardio I like :)
*Emailed Jess with conditioning drills
*Watched roller derby! I thought it was really cool, but my dad and brother got tired of it so we left at halftime.
*Went heavy on the carbs and light on the veggies. Will do better tomorrow.
*Did my ab exercises for the fifth day in a row!

*TYs (will definitely do them tomorrow so they won’t be scandalously late)

I can’t believe it’s June already! Looking forward to days at the pool and summer thunderstorms…just not at the same time.

Today I…
*Went to the last doctor’s appointment this week
*Played my trumpet
*Went to the pool with friends and had a blast
*Did NOT get sunburned or dehydrated while at the pool—a big accomplishment for me
*Was introduced by my best friend to two sitcoms, Arrested Development and Better Off Ted

*Went to the second of 3 doctor visits
*Went out with J and watched The Avengers :)
*Ate 2 servings of fruit at breakfast and consciously had a bigger salad at dinner
*After many, many issues with saving and auto-logout, finally finished the roommate form!

Today I…
*Began the process of revamping my wardrobe to suit Houston weather
*Finished The Bourne Ultimatum
*Had an unfortunate run-in with a bowl of chocolate chips (I’ve got fencing this evening and I can eat better at dinner, but still)
*Spent my time on the computer (mostly) productively…meaning no Sims
*Went to the first of three doctor’s appointments this week (nothing wrong, just tests for school)
*Set up a date with J for tomorrow :) We’re going to see The Avengers!
*Made Rice Krispy treats with Mom and played word games
*Ab exercises for the second day in a row
*Jump rope intervals at fencing. I’m till catching my breath—need to do that more often.

Still in the works:
*cardio. Honestly, I do not like cardio. I’d rather do Burpies till I fell over than ride the exercise bike for an hour.
*Thank-you notes from graduation!
