make an art quilt

Been reading Andrea Zuill’s blog and admiring her art quilts. Well all of her art actually. She is a fabulous artist. Very inspiring. Wish I could do one of her classes. I guess I just need to start! I’ll make some drawings today and browse some more. I’ll have to wait until I get back home to Australia before I make a start – I didn’t come prepared! 21 months ago

I posted a call for a 2008 art quilt quilt-a-long on Craftster. Maybe if more people will jump on board, I’ll be inspired to actually make an art quilt!

Anybody interested in making an art quilt?

I’m NOT artistic, but our walls are bare, and I’d like to make something cool to hang on them. I have several books for inspiration including The Quilted Garden by Jane Sassman’s and Art Quilt Workbook.

This will be a loosely structured quilt-a-long; just get creative and make something awesome. Post your progress as the year progresses.

The only rule will be size. The smallest should be no smaller than 12” x 12”; you can go as large as you want, though.

I’m not starting until January (2008), but feel free to jump on board and start anytime. 4 years ago

Art quilts are different than patchwork quilts so I made this a new “thing” to do.

I pulled out my Jane Sassman’s The Quilted Garden and Art Quilt Workbook to inspire me toward this goal.

Since I feel creatively-challenged much of the time, I have no idea how long it’s going to take me to complete this goal. 4 years ago
