coniglietta is ready to start setting her goals
I fell in love with a Greek man and he is my motivation. I’m taking private lessons and have bought two methods, one of which I’m using … wish me luck !!!!!
How I did it: I purchased a CD course from Pimsleur and listened to the CD's on my work commute. It took about 4 months to get through most of the lessons. If you're traveling to Greece, your efforts will be appreciated by most of the people there.
Lessons & tips: There is a reason for the phrase "it's all Greek to me". Repetition and persistence pays!
Resources: Pimsleur

BooksToBrowse is reading ... again ...
I am going to spend three hours on this…
Applied for university the other day, and selected ‘Greek for Beginners’ as one of my electives! So in six months time I’ll be learning Greek!!!!
I’ve been working on this on and off for a while. I can read and write nicely, have a vocab of about 1000 words, but boy, do the grammar and verbs O_o stump me.
Onwards and upwards, I guess :)
I’ve been learning Greek slowly for two months now and I would like to continue my research with the goal being visiting Greece and speaking to the locals in their own tongue.
I want to improve my greek, so that one day it will feel as natural to me as english language.
I’m going to Greece in May! I would love to learn Greek so I can impress my friends and not be completely lost!
Amble is pondering the possibilities of life.
Perhaps it’s a bit early to say I’ve started on my journey to learn Greek, but in a way I suppose the journey begins right when you make the decision. I have a couple methods I’ll be using, namely internet based. I’d love to purchase Rosetta Stone, but it’s very expensive and I’m quite poor.
Why Greek? Well, why not Greek? I’m not of Greek decent and I don’t know anyone from Greece, but it’s like an obsession. Culture, history, landscape, music, food. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to see and experience. Eventually I plan to get myself there somehow, and if I know the language then just maybe my experience and immersion into the culture might be that much more profound.
Beyond that, if I learn this language, it’ll be something that I can look back on and say, “I did it. I learned Greek.” I’ve had classes in other languages before. I could pick up some of the basics, but it’s always been hard for me. So I know this will be exceedingly difficult. Perhaps that’s an even greater incentive.
So, here I go.
xoMagicElle is very bored!
I’m half greek, and ever since I can remember I wanted to learn the language. My mom and aunt/uncle speak it fluently, and also my grandmother. I’ve always wanted to learn to speak it and be able to talk to my grandmother in her native language. I don’t know why she and my mom never taught us when we were little, but I am going to ask them to try now.
