I have been doing my morning stretch, done when I get out of bed, since 2007. I think that counts. (OK, I would like to add some other things, but I think I will wait til 2014 to do that.) Anyway, I have decided that I want to add “draw a web comic” to my list of 43 Things, and I have to mark something done. (Maybe I will come back to this, keeping a “food gournal,” etc.) 6 months ago

How I did it: I have tried lots of things over the last few years (well its much longer than that really). For me the two things which are consistently giving me the most pleasure AND being done regularly are animal care and gardening. Both get me outside and moving about quite happily and without stress. I tried other things but it always felt like hard work. I may try Tai Chi again too...but because my pets have to be carried for and I want my garden to look nice - I have extra motivation. This was way more fun than expected. I plan to be back at the class next week. 7 months ago
There is a class really close by so I will check it out on
Tuesday night. 7 months ago
With Spring coming soon I find myself in the garden more and more. Gotta be a good thing. 8 months ago
My excuses…it is hard to go out in the freezing night to go swimming even if the pool is heated. And I wasn’t enjoying the teaching at all.
But I will go back again in Spring and Summer….just no more classes. 8 months ago
Still have not moved beyond the morning stretch, but I am starting to think maybe I should just be happy with that. Actually, I have started expanding the stretching routine by ONE additional stretch, some days, so maybe that is enough. 8 months ago
But I went and had a swim anyway. Definitely improving but not at the pace my irritating new tutor sets. Anyone who starts a critique with ‘I’m not picking on you BUT….’ should not be teaching adults. 10 months ago
I have been promoted to the next level up. Not sure how many levels there are in the adult swim classes…think I may have got to the last level….not that I know anything yet. Still pleased to have pretty much kept up last week…and managed a couple of practice swims this week. 11 months ago
Well I finished the 10 week course and only missed 2 sessions. I can see real improvement. Unfortunately I have hurt my back and swimming hurts….but I am going to try again this week. 12 months ago
I came, I swam, I spent longer time in the spa and saunda than in the pool….but it was a start. 12 months ago
I am only making it once a week but my lessons are going well. My stroke is getting better and I must be getting abit fitter?! 14 months ago
Not as challenging as feared/hoped.

But almost a month has gone by and I have made it to the pool most weeks – and sometimes more than once 15 months ago
signed up for swimming lessons from Feb and paid half the course cost. 15 months ago
clump of hair (not mine) at the bottom of the pool find of gross. But I trust in copious amounts of chlorine. Slowly building stamina 15 months ago
Better. I went with some family and it made the time go faster to have someone to talk to between lengths…and I stayed in longer too. 15 months ago
a) not as bad as the first time
b) not as embarrassing….I saw no one I knew phew
c) I managed to stay in a little bit longer and relax
d) good for me 16 months ago
I think I will sign up for lessons in the new year. I love watching Fred Astaire on Youtube. (No comparision of course!) 17 months ago
Finally something to write about. I like mowing the lawns – sometimes with a push mower, sometimes with a motor mower. 17 months ago
I do have a small stretching routine, and I do some very small bit of cycling. But, I am looking for something in addition to the stretching that is slightly more vigorous and might include some hand/eye or body co-ordination. Not sure what, just yet.
But, I like that this goal (“thing”?) is general enough and flexible enough to accomodate some searching for the right exercise. 19 months ago
I really don't like exercise...but when I was a kid it wasn't too bad. Any ideas on how to fool myself into exercising even though I don't want to? 19 months ago
