69- stepd & boy moved in with us for a year. Things were good at home but at work still bad. Stepd moved back to her house with new boyfriend; later girl#1 was born. I changed jobs to one that was much lower pay but still not-nice-ladies in the office. Took a real estate course & got license but never sold anything. Changed jobs yet again: lower pay but working in the field.
65- Left the hospital and got a job at a renal dialysis center. Did poorly. Must say I was being sabotaged by aides that (1) did not like newcomers and (2) did not like people who looked Caucasian. They did stuff that could have killed the patients.
66- After 3 months of that nonsense went back to home visitation. Had a good director. Mostly nice people to work with. A few jerks but mostly nice. Started doing auditing and writing summaries. Rode my bike at lunch time, was in good shape. Met the patient who had built himself a little castle to live in, complete with really neat wood carvings.
67- My stepdaughter had a baby boy.
68- I decided I was bored with my job and switched to the job from hell, complete with lying, manipulative, backstabbing, control-freak not-nice-ladies. Constantly being reprimanded and written up. Worked mostly in auditing. Did have a partner who was very decent. Thank you, Penny.
63- Continued spelling words wrong, even ‘hospital’.
64- Work on a general medical floor, OR (did poorly) and neuro. Had a hard time supervising staff and a worse time handling the verbal abuse from physicians. Met some unusual people, including the surgical patient who had a spider web tatooed across his armpit and the words “your name” on his shmeckie; and the nursing station secretary who hiked up her skirt to show the whole staff the yellow sign with “slippery when wet” tatooed on her thigh. Now, this was in Gastonia NC, where the high class residents have two chevys up on blocks in the front yard.
52- At age 42 continued to play fiddle (even though I had to take a lot of flack from the pompous). Did international folk dancing.
53- Got together with my sister whom I had not seen in 15 years. She died the following year.
54- Learned to play Cajun music.
55- Separated and divorced. Just not a good match.
56- Afterwards began dating an old friend.
57- Spiritual path change: Catholic->Unitarian->Agnostic->Pagan->Atheist—>Judaism.
58- Married again.
59- Experienced Hugo, my 3rd hurricane.
60- Cheated on my wife (not all the way, but enough).
61- Separated for awhile.
62- Returned to nursing, at a hiospital.
