I've done this, but... 17 months ago

it’s an ongoing process. Still, I’m done with the office for now. It feels sooo good!

    Yay! 17 months ago

I finally did it. I got rid of all the collectibles I didn’t want in both rooms, and moved the office stuff over to the den. It’s in a pile, but a neat pile.

The next goal: 17 months ago

to get the collectibles out of my office.

I fixed the shredder—gee, that only took two months. So now I can do that. I had better get on that before taxes completely take hold of February.

The first thing I have to do to get started: move (read: throw away) the semi-collectibles and junk from the den so that I can move the collectibles in there. I have decided to keep the office supplies and materials in the office; believe it or not, that’s a very helpful decision. It means I’m not overwhelmed.

It's still the Office that's the focus. 18 months ago

I have a plan, or at least half of one. I want to take all the collectibles out of the office. But leave the packing materials. The other half of the plan is that I have to figure out what to do with the collectibles.

I’m putting them in magazine containers now. I think I can stack the containers in the den.

I have cleaned out all the photos. 20 months ago

I have reduced the photos in the closet by half. Now I have about 8 empty plastic magazine boxes….oooh, I can fill those with collectibles!

Now, my next project is to get all the collectibles out of the office and make, yes, the office a real office again.

    Moving on... 2 years ago

I have a few boxes in my office now that I used to have in my bedroom. I took some magazines out (no, I didn’t throw them away) of one box and moved the box to the den. I have semi-organized my previous work stuff and stored that in file cabinets. I still have some boxes left, and I think I’ll move those to the den, too, until I can unload them.

Okay, the office closet is done... 2 years ago

and most of the office floor. What’s left on the floor are office supplies, stuff left over from my previous job (that’s intended, somehow, to be a shrine), and stuff for eBay.

I will work more on that.

    Aha...progress! 2 years ago

I woke up this morning with an urge (nay, a compulsion) to do some more in my office. (I think this urge was also a compulsion, I say ashamedly, to find more stuff to put on eBay.) So I have thrown the equivalent of 3 trash bags in the trash outside! The pile is getting lower.

Of course, now I also have a pile of stuff in the bedroom, but I consider that a different project.

Okay, the one-box-a-day isn't working out.... 2 years ago

but it was a great idea. My problem at this point (my excuse?) is that it’s tax season. I don’t seem to have the energy for both of these projects at the same time.

One box a day... 2 years ago

that’s what I’m trying to do in the office. Just take one box a day and either put the stuff away or throw it away.
