Ogese, I just noticed that you’re in London. Oops, you probably don’t have exposure to NBS. I think that NBS is mostly an American thing. Thus, most of what I said below does not apply to you.

Ogese, it’s good intentions. However, your comments about the reasons for the club are almost identical to the reasons for NBS.org. I’m not seeing the difference, other than it sounds like you’re interested in snowboarding specifically. That, by itself, does not get me excited about forming a snowboarding club. And trust me: I may be amongst the top 100 biggest fans of snowboarding in North America. If I’m not motivated, just think about others. Are you a member of NBS.org? Check out the Summit this year in Steamboat. It’s going to be awesome!
I don’t agree with the idea that skiers and snowboarders don’t mix well. I agree that beginner snowboarders and beginner skiers don’t mix well. However, if both have at least intermediate abilities, it’s cool as heck hanging with skiers. They challenge me on things; I challenge them on things. Most times, I’m even able to beat skiers down mogul runs.
NBS.org has many snowboarders in it already. Black snowboarders should hang with skiers whenever possible. I don’t think we have the numbers to afford the luxury of forming a separate club. Plus, some skiers are also snowboarders; those folks would not be interested in spreading their resources to a separate club. It’s about a winter sport thing, not about a snowboader thing. I’ve had commaderie with several snowboarders from nbs.org. A few are now good friends. I think efforts should be made to have NBS put snowboarding on the face of their identity, as opposed to spending energy forming a separate club. Ultimately, I want to save most of my energy for the slopes. Peace.
Somebody needs to start an international organization for the connection and welfare of black snowboarders worldwide. I mean, if Jamaica can have a bobsled team, why not?
