I remember when I was little and my parents were going to WSU, I always loved the bug exhibits. I wanted to be a “bug doctor” when I grew up and would keep lady bugs and praying mantises. I also remember holding my very first tarantula… I was probably about 4 or 5 years old.
After moving from Pullman into the city I started to morph into a city girl.. hating bugs and yadda yadda. Now I am 18 and starting to love them again. I love spiders and slugs and snails. Ants too. I just think bugs are so interesting to watch.
I’d love to have a pet tarantula and observe its behaviors and take care of it :) They are just sooo cool!

skyviewexpress is enjoying the typically unpredictable weather of Oregon...
I currently have a male Chilean Rose Hair, named Fluffy. He’s the sweetest little guy ever! Alot of people that come over to my house and see Fluffy, have never seen a tarantula before in real life, or have never handled one before. Fluffy is such an easy going tarantula, and is very patient with novice hands. I love him, like anyone else would love a cat or dog. DEFINITELY is worth owning one if your responsible and caring. Chilean’s are great for anyone, including beginners.

and care for five other tarantulas through the museum that i work at. if anyone needs ANY advice on tarantulas, feel free to ask! also, i joined arachnoboards.com because the geeks there have the best information. :D the BEST BEST BEST book that you could ever read on tarantulas is “The Tarantula Keeper’s Guide” by Margaret and Stanley A. Schultz, they should be coming out with another one in January I believe.
let me know if you have questions! i am a tarantula nut!

I got a really young tarantula a few weeks ago. He’s a cute little guy. I got to see him molt a few days ago, and that was pretty cool. He’s not all that friendly though, because every time i reach in to get his water bowl he tries to fling hairs at me, lol.

Dizziwish is not an artist, but has created a masterpiece.
My mums friend was given one as a joke because she hates spiders and so she gave it to my mum who gave it to my brother, her name was Griswalder, she was a chilean rose trantular who lived for 8 years, we still have one of her skins she shed…she was pretty cool really.

If you are inexpierenced with them however I recommend getting yourself a nice rose tarantula. Usually cheaper, and a non aggressive good starter tarantula.
