People who just sit around on their own little butt and do nothing for others are boring.
I’m not gonna list my activities here cause quite frankly college applications are enough, but do visit www.seedsofpeace.com if you’re looking for a place to start.
We had this school project to do community service, and I did it! And I’m planning to do more. I joined Charolotte’s Helping Hands Program! I’m also participating in all of our church service activities.
I just accepted the position of president for a local community organization and as much of an honor as that is, the thought of being responsible for the direction of the organization makes me quake in my boots. I put down “worth doing” but I’ll reserve judgement until the end of the next year. The great thing though is that I’m surrounded by an amazing board and there are great things in store for us.
donna816 SPRING IS AROUND THE CORNER! YIPPEEE
i got involved in the heritage in our old neighborhood, another woman and i started a garden club, now we go on garden crawls! what a hoot, the ad for them reads more inspiring than a pubcrawl and less filling than a dinner! i think or something to that effect..i will reread the ad…we meet at one garden, and walk the hood and snack and drink and feast our eyes and minds and take in the cool stuff and the gorgeous hard work it has taken to get the yards this far.
i have also been doing talks at the school on the heritage in the hood this has been great getting our kids excited about their homes and hood…
I’m marking this as done, as I’ve been making a good job of getting on with it for the past 2-3 months, and am in habits of going to meetings, getting work done etc. It isn’t always fun but it is worthwhile, to make sure that i am contributing to my community being how I would like it to be. Can’t leave it to everyone else then moan from the sidelines cos stuff doesn’t get done.

I did a good bit of door-to-door work for the “No on 1” campaign. Guess what? It was voted down! No honkin’ huge service cuts from the city this year.
I have to wonder, though, if I would feel the same way had my side not won the election…

seem to have got into the swing of it now. Have got back involved with a group working on important local issues, am going to meetings and getting work done on a fairly regular basis. I’ll leave this goal up for a while yet, tho, need to be sure this is going to last before marking it ‘done’.
spend 3 hours this Saturday and 3 hours last Saturday working on stuff.
