my ex was generous enough to clean a bunch of nastiness out of the basement while fixing the drain.
So, it’s definitely much much more approachable now.
I’m marking this done though I did very little of the cleaning.
Nothing says love like a man elbow deep in basement water. so gross. so grateful. 8 months ago

freaking lovely. My procrastination led me to yesterday in which I discovered the drain in the basement is clogged and spilling disgusting water all of the basement. gag
With the help of my super kind friend, I was able to get the nasty rug out that my ex left down there but there’s still all kinds of nasty boxes and things that have to be removed with a new kind of urgency.
Let alone, how the heck am I going to get the drain repaired?? I can’t find my landlord’s number…I’ll have to dig it up. He doesn’t do much around here but would have to be responsible for this one, I’d say.
Oh, so gross, so gross.
My ex is going to try to come and help today, thankfully. 8 months ago

I had to move out of state quickly when my father had two heart attacks last Fall. I let a realtor and his handyman have their way with the house and put it on the market. As part of the process, I rescued everything I wanted from the basement, and the handyman hauled the rest to charities or the dump. I’m now happily in a basement-free apartment, and the new owners can start filling it again. 11 months ago

The basement is, for the most part, a mess. A lot of stuff that was shoved down there was put there eight years ago when we moved in. Since there’s a bit of mold down there (albeit not THAT much) it’s best that a lot of the things go; especially those that have no particular value to us.
It would also be nice to organize the paint room and wayback room so that I can start using them as actual workspaces. 16 months ago

I’ve spent my entire day down there. As of right now it looks like some really messy people live here. Oppose to insanely crazy messy people. 19 months ago

I spent over an hour down there yesterday. Can you tell? Well I can. I was able to sort through some stuff and am taking a good 3 bags worth of stuff to the consignment shop. Unfortunately I can’t bring it in for 2 weeks since the store is currently packed with merchandise. Which is great for my friend who owns the place but I just want it all OUT! 21 months ago

I’m combining this goal with my 40 bags goals.
I can’t believe how long this has taken. My biggest problem with the basement is that its such a crazy mess I get overwhelmed and end up walking away. Ironic I know.
The same thing started happening today but I simply refused to leave without filling a bag. And I did. 21 months ago

I won’t go into the terrifying details of our 11-hour ordeal. However, we now have a basement that I would not feel ashamed for a repairman to see. 1 year ago

Actually, I got a head start on this last week by hauling a lot of things to the thrift store, though there’s still a good deal of crap down there.
I’ve always intended to set up our storm room nicely as part of the cleanup job, and this spring’s weather has given me more incentive. There’a a very small part of our basement designed to be a shelter…no windows, reinforced concrete slab for a ceiling, etc.
The whole basement is going to be a big and dirty job. How did it get so bad? I swear I just cleaned it 3 or 4 years ago! :) 1 year ago
